You need the .154 pins, unless you think your holes have worn a bit large and wobbly then the .154s.  According to Tony K they are re-designing the pins into a newer stronger style since some have reported breakages. Probably mostly those used on 9mm conversion kits.  Might want to contact KNS and see when the newer sets are available.

Thanks David! My pin holes don't appear to be worn so I'll order the .154 set.
I'm trying to prevent the holes from getting worn and that's why I want to order this pin
set. Am I doing the right thing?

Thanks,

Jeff

Jeff, I use the 0.154" pins on Colt factory RRs and have had zero problems.

That said, if you're going to use a 9mm upper, KNS recommends the oversize .1555" pins. They usually fit Colt RRs fine but are a tighter fit. I've got a set of these on the way, to try out.

As far as them breaking, the only instances I've heard of were with 9mm or 7.62x39 uppers, both of which are notoriously harder on the fire-control system than 5.56 uppers are (and both of which are know to break regular pins, too).

There have been three instances of broken KNS pins reported at ar15.com; KNS says they know of about 6-7 failures overall. There may be some unreported cases out there, but it's not exactly a widespread problem.

As David noted, KNS is redesigning their pins, but the new ones won't be available for a couple of months yet.

Thanks for the info guys. I'm using a Colt 11.5" 5.56mm upper and a 16" .22 upper
on this particular receiver so hopefully I won't experience any failure issues.

Thanks,

Jeff
