One of my 16s (a Norrell converted EA receiver) seems to have a problem with 5.56 uppers. It runs fine with the dedicated 22 upper and my Oly 9mm upper, but with two different 5.56 uppers it has the same problem (those uppers run fine on my other 16, a PAWS guns). The problem is that it will fire one or two rounds and then do one of two things; not pick up the next round in the magazine or pick up the round, but not reset the trigger I've cleaned the gun thouroughly and tried two different buffers. No help there. Any suggestions? |
Probably wouldnt be an unproperly staked bolt cause it is getting another round from the mag.. Sounds more like bolt bounce.. What lenght barrels are these?? |
Haven't had a chance to work on it, but it's not likely to be the same problem. My Keuhl 22 upper, which uses a modified Ciener kit, runs fine. |

The best buffer I ever ran was the tungsten filled CAR buffer made by DPMS. That was an instant fix for several shorty uppers I had giving me trouble. Brownells had them MUCH cheaper than DPMS last time I checked. ![]() PS. DavidC... Have you been getting my IM's ? I sent you one last night and got no reply. I understand there are alot of folks here not getting IM's since the site upgrade. Didn't want you to think I forgot about the generator/625pd thing. If IM's are unreliable, just take it to email... My Kuehl .22LR upper, which also uses a modified Ciener kit, ran fine for months and a few thousand rounds. My problem just developed recently, and I'm not sure where to start diagnosing it. The last time I fired mine, I was with RenegadeX trying out Frisco's new LM7 upper. |
If you already have the carbine receiver endplate installed, give the H and H2 buffers a try first. |
I've got a spare rifle stock and buffer available. I'd have to go buy an H or H2 buffer. If the rifle buffer solves the problem I'll see if someone at Bulletfest has a heavy carbine buffer I can try. |
