Greetings,

Now that I have possession of my HK sear, I'm thinking about
outfitting my MP-5 clone with some sort of optic.

In particular, an EOTech like I've seen the Brits use looks like it would be a
good match for this weapon (e.g., something such as THIS. )

I'll probably go with one of the lower-profile options, like an XPS3; any
suggestions on a good way to mount it?   Obviously, I could just get an HK rail
& mount it that way, but I wondered if there's something more elegant available?

Thanks!
SD

The aimpoint micro T1/T2 is low profile and will co-witness with the iron sights. Also weighs in at around 3 oz keep whole setup very light.

FWIW i was a die hard eotech fan boy for years. I finally gave in and bought a Aimpoint T2 and dont regret it one bit. Eotechs are still great optics but in my collection they have been downgraded to the plinking rifles.

It is a horrible match, way too big, and designed for ranges far beyond what is optimum for MP5.

Get an Aimpoint.

I have several EOTech  sights on my pistol caliber hosts.  I love them.  I don't think they are too big.  I really like the 1 MOA dot within the 65 MOA circle.  I have shot the Aimpoint.  I find the single dot of the Aimpoint harder to find when I raise the gun up and look through the sight.  But I find that at a distance, the 2 or 4 MOA dot is very large on a small target.  YMMV.

I run a Burris Fastfire III on all mine.

You might try the Zeiss z-point or Hensoldt Rsa-s, I just put one on my m11/9 with a Lage upper, and I like it so far, the eotech was too wide for a slim submachinegun.

Thanks for all the input, thus far.  I actually already own both
an EOTech and an Aimpoint Micro T-2 (*presently on other hosts).

The EOTech is no doubt bulkier, but I find I can get on-target
very, very fast with it (vs. the smaller Aimpoint).  Of course, this
is just for "hobby use" & I don't plan on clearing houses or the like
with it...  I may just try what I have and go with what suits me the
best.

Thanks!

I run Primary Arms T1 clone and have zero problem with it.

if its for close range and just plinking one of those super small RMR sights that typically are for pistols might be nice.

I like the EoTech on a subgun, too.

zero problems with the sight? or problems with the irons and red dot co-witnessing?

My normal cheek weld put the dot on the top of the triple tree sight ring so I had it opened up. I believe there are mount/sight options out there that will cowitness but mine did not with the cheap 20.00 mount.

Thanks to everyone who offered input, thought I'd pass along a pic of the site I'm trying first--

That's the Aimpoint Micro T-1, with a 2 MOA dot.  Definitely lightweight & fits the gun quite well.

As has been pointed out by one poster already, the closed ring front sight does interfere with the
red dot somewhat.  I may look at getting a riser, or other solution, in the future.

Get the front sight protective ring milled down like the above posted photo.

I sent mine, in the above pics to ghilliebear to have him do it.  we cut it pretty high approx 10:30/1:30 or maybe even a 11/1 oclock.  LV has a video of his MP5 and his is cut straight across at the 9/3 oclock.  Personal choice..l

I later got a little braver and did my own SBR Draco front sight but the metal was much thinner cut.

Someone should have told you to go with the B&T mount instead of the MFI.

Oh well.  Still a good looking setup...I have a one similar.

OK, opened it up & now works much better--

Thanks for all the input!
