| My fiances uncles is a FFL holder and just applied for his SOT to manufacture, he was wanting me to do some conversions once he gets approved. My question is do I need to be listed on his FFL to do the work for him or does he just need to be present when I do the work for him? |

Work needs to be performed at his shop, you do not need to be listed as an RP on his FFL. Also, you do not apply for an SOT to MFG, you obtain an SOT to do tax-free business on NFA stuff. If he was not already an 07 FFL, the SOT does not give the ability to MFG NFA. |

Quoted: correct he needs to be an 07FFL to pay for a class 2 SOT. if he's an 01FFL his SOT will be a class 3 and that wont cut it. and as other have stated. manufacturing must be done at the licensed premises and file a form 2 by close of business next day. |

You mean the work must be done in the presence of the license holder. It does not have to be at the license location. But any uncompleted work cannot stay offsite. Quoted:

MANUFACTURING can only be done at the licensed address. but, gunsmithing CAN be done anyhwere. from what i heard, CAV arms got in trouble for this. they were having their lowers molded elsewhere and then gluing them together in their shop. atf said no. all manufacturing has to be done on site. this was also right from my IOI. |
