Any reasons to go one way or another for mounting a suppressor?

Is this for a pistol or a carbine?  To me the best carbine suppressor mount would be the .40 caliber 3-lug Gemtech Raptor.  I bought a .40 caliber Raptor during Gemtech's annual "Gem Tax" promotion.  If you buy between April 15-30, Gemtech will pay the $200 tax for the transfer to you.  I can switch mounts and use the can for either .40 caliber or 9mm.  I was told by Dr.Dater that the .40 caliber Raptor will hold up to high pressure 10 mm AUTO.  I'm planning a 10 mm build down the road.

Like any other 3-lug, you line the three lugs on the barrel with the notches in the mount.  Push the mount down over the muzzle until it won't go any further.  Then rotate about 60 degrees.  The mount will then spring back onto the lugs of the barrel.  To me the great thing about the 3-lug mount is it can't shoot loose.  I've got a SWR HEMS II can for my HK Mark 23.  I need to tighten the can after every 12 rd mag.  Some have said that their thread on can stays put once it has been threaded on.  Others have expressed that they have had the same experience that I've had about the can "shooting loose".

"Will the Raptor .40 work on both my mp5-40 and my mp5k build?"

You would need to purchase or have someone make you a 9mm "piston" for the Raptor .40/MK9K 3-lug mount.  If you wish to use the can with .40 put the .40 "piston" in it.  If you wish to use it wit 9mm then install the 9mm "piston".  Dr. Dater told me that the .40 caliber can on 9mm would be within a decibel or two of a 9mm Raptor.  He said that the difference would be measurable, but the average person would not be able to tell the sound difference of the 9mm can from the .40 caliber can, on a 9mm gun.

"This is for a pistol w/osprey can and stormlake barrel..."

I'd recommend you contact the can manufacturer.  They would know what the best thread would be and why.  Good luck with your can project
