Hi all,

this is in reference to a 9mm suppressed AR im putting the parts together for. This will be a two stamp gun. Im using a standard AR15 lower with a mag block, etc. The lower is marked-multi cal. My question is if i register the lower as an SBR do i put multi-cal on the doc or do i have to list it as a 9mm, 5.56, etc?

What im trying to figure out is if i can use the same lower with the suppressed 9mm upper as well as a short barrel ar15 upper. I going with a ramped bolt so its my understanding the DPMS hammer i have will work fine. so other than changing out the block and buffer assembly for standard AR ones i could use it with a 5.56 upper. Im guessing anyways. This is all speculation of course at the moment and I am looking for more info on the thought. Can you list two calibers for the same SBR on the form?

as always,

thx!

List one caliber. You can use as many calibers that the lower can handle. This doesn't change because you want to SBR the lower but IIRC the ATF wants one caliber listed on the form.

That's correct, ATF put the kibash on listing multiple calibers some time ago.

This depends still it seems.

My last Form-1 for my 9mm AR15 SBR project has 9mm / .223 indicated in box c..

The approval was Jul 17-2008.

I think it depends on the examiner, and if it's questioned by the examiner or something.
