I am currently waiting for my form 1 to come back (1 month down) and is sounds like its going to ba about another 4 month wait. I have the upper, a 11.5 BCM BFH w/ 10 in LaRue.  Currently being stored in my locker at work (police department).  My question is could I use that upper on one of our PD lowers.  Im under the impression that I couldnt put it on one of our newer semi auto lowers, because then the PD would be making an unregistered SBR, am I correct?  But we do have some Millitatry overrun M16 A1 Lowers.  Could I run my SBR upper on the M16 lower.  Of course I would have the chiefs approval.  I just want to make sure it is legal.  The rifle would only be used for official dutys while on the PD lower.

Uncle Sugars .gov loaner M16 is a machinegun,,,, barrel length rules do not apply to machinegun.    Install barreled upper and have fun with it till your paper comes back for your lower.

You're probably fine.... those DRMO 16s are still M16s...  even though some of the PDs take out the Fire control group.

We had the son of a PD officer show up to a class with his father's DRMO 16 gun with a standard fire control group... kinda borderline stuff there.

I remember test firing my SBR upper on another ARF member's SBR lower when I was waiting for my approval.  My upper was zeroed and ready to rock the day my approval showed up.
