Hey i cant seem to find anything on the subject, but im fixing to buy a lar 9 with 10.5 in barrell but it is a pistol.  I want to register it as a sbr and my question is it possible to remove the buffer tube and replace it with a regular ar15 buffer tube for a stock or do i have to buy a whole new lower?

Since the lower IS the firearm, changing that would be sort of counterproductive.  IF you get approved to SBR the weapon, you should be able to just swap out the pistol receiver extension for a carbine or rifle extension without any issues-Rock River tends to use exactly the same receivers for everything (except the integrated 9mm magwell versions, of course).  I'm unclear on whether there's any paperwork difficulty in changing an AR pistol into an SBR...

No issue at all. Rifle and Pistol lowers are identical other than how they're classified.

As for registration there won't be any issue. it's very common for people to get/build the pistol version of their rifle and register them as SBRs since it's easier and cheaper to add/change the stock than cut the barrels down.
