I just received a modified Suomi SMG drum with a chopped UZI 25 round magazine welded on at an angle. Drum has welded-in divider for right-hand feed, 12 copper tube spacer rounds strung together with braided-steel cable, and some kind of internal opaque plastic strips; rear one runs completely around drum while forward one is at top of drum and about 3.5" long. Nicely parkerized finish over entire drum and nice looking welds.

Now for the questions...

1) Does this sound like a Vector drum, or a C&S Metallwerks drum or someone elses?

2) I found some generic info on the Suomi drums which recommended "8 clicks" to fully wind the spring, is this number of clicks correct for the Suomi/UZI drum too?

3) I believe Vector recommends 68 rounds for their drums, while C&S recommends 72 rounds...was the C&S feed tower longer or did they use fewer spacer rounds?

4) Any other info or suggestions about this wee-beastie?

Thank you for any and all information!

Sounds like a Vector drum with the strips inside.

My Vector drum will hold 72, but the first 4 jam every time, so I think that is why they say 68..

Just wind the drum till the follower stops, then fill'er up. When you put the cover on, the drum will release tension to feed the rounds.

WATCH YOUR FINGERS. Very easy to pinch them in this drum.

Sounds just like my early Vector drum.
Go here > http://www.c3junkie.com/ –– click on Uzi Information - then C&S vs Vector Drums for a comparison of the two.

Thanks for the information, gentlemen.  It seems I do have an early Vector drum.  I also appreciate the link to the drum info, osprey21.  I had been on c3junkie.com long ago and had seen the drum info, but couldn't remember the name of the website where that intel was located.

No problem - c3junkie.com belongs to board member amphibian - I consider him THE expert on all things UZI.

Damn, I guess after looking at that site, mine appears to be a CE drum, as it has the aluminum dummy rounds.
