Ok, so I've got a trip planned with my buddies to some privately owned land in OK.  I'm sending in the request form tomorrow with info on where I'm going, how long I'll be there, etc.

Does the NFA branch actually notify any local agencies (game warden, county sherriff, etc) about the impending presence of an NFA firearm in their area?

I guess my real question is, what do they do with the information you provide to them on that form?

They don't tell anyone....

It is more like a note from mommy saying your gun can go on the field trip.

There is a little more to it than that, they will do stuff like make sure machineguns are legal in the destination state before they approve it, etc.

If you are coming from TX to OK, you have to pay the Oklahoma Interstate Firearm Transport Tax. The fee in this particular situation is one case of ammo and one case of Pepsi. Fees to be paid at the state line upon crossing. I'll meet you there for the transfer.  Have fun when you get here.

Why do I have a mental picture of Firecop203 sitting in a patrol car behind a billboard waiting to nab the OP. Later down the road as you drive past the blue lights you can see Firecop203 marching to the trunk of his car with a case of ammo in both hands an a 12 pack of Pepsi between the arms. LOL

But OP, they check to see if it's legal in that state.

If YOU caught ME on the road, I would gladly pay you a case of pepsi.  Except in TX we drink Dr. Pepper so you'd have to compromise

As far as the ammo, you might as well be asking me for gold...

OK, I call on this entire thread now.  We don't drink Dr. Prune Juice Pepper in Texas, we drink Coca Cola with your choice of bourbon.

Nope, born and raised in Henderson, Texas.    My father's side are all from Freestone and Limestone Counties (as many generations as I know) and my mother's parents moved to Texas when she was a toddler (moved here from North Carolina).  Dad's dad retired from Texas Forge before they went belly up and my Mom's Dad retrired from Hormel in Houston.  I'm native.

I was stationed in El Paso in the early  80's, so I guess I almost qualify as a "yankee transplant", so why would you ruin good bourbon by putting it into a softdrink??

Just asking.
