The other day I was talking to my father about a thread I saw here a while ago, showing pics of the one of the largest privately held machine gun collections. Does anyone have any links to the pics? It was a very large room, machine guns were on the wall, very organized. (room was huge, looked like the whole floor of some building) Can anyone help me find this thread? |

I don't know of any "official" hosting of the photos -- Reed's place is here in FL and last year, for the first time AFAIK, he let the NRA host a small one-time, $100-a-ticket tour of the place. Most of the photos you've seen were probably taken by guys lucky enough to snag one of those few tickets, and who of course posted their photos everywhere on the net. Many have since been taken down or expired, so it might take some surfing to find them now. Of course, he has been collecting MGs (and doing biz as an 07/02) for more than a half-century now.... |

Knight's Armament had an open house at their plant during SHOT '07 in January. I was part of a group that got a brief tour of the plant and an awesome tour of the museum. The tour was guided by Reed Knight himself. The museum is incredible; hearing the history of individual rifles like AR Serial #1-5, and the insights of Mr. Knight himself were a once in a lifetime opportunity. It was cool. |
| I was lucky enough to be part of the 07 Shot Show tour & barbeque as well. The collection is amazing. Damned near everything in there had single digit serial numbers. Most fascinating thing in there to me was a gyro-stabilized bunker buster that looked like a bowling ball on the end of an AR. That and a suppressed revolver/rifle. Truly an awesome experience. |
Those are the pics I remember, Thanks so much! |
| That is freaking amazing. I wonder what percentage of that collection is transferable. I know that if any of the H&K or other foreign made firearms are factory, they are posties. But I would think that most of the rest of the collection would have to be transferable. |
You ever heard of Florida oranges? Reed Knight is in the fifth generation of what was once one of Florida largest citrus growing families. They own/owned a huge chunk of the state -- including, but not limited to, most of Indian River County. Citrus canker has done a number on the Florida citrus industry, so the Knight family has sold off a lot of the land -- at the right time. "Weathy" is an understatement. Instead of getting involved in the family biz, Reed founded KAC. |

i am firmly convinced that reed knight is personally responsible for the high prices of transferable machine guns. he is the reason there aren't many out there to be had ![]() in all seriousness, his collection is amazing and i would love to have the chance to see it in person one day. |

Well, I don't think you can blame Knight for completely skewing the prices of MGs out there. There are actually quite a few really large private collections around the country. Perhaps not in the league with Knights holdings, but pretty close. I've had the pleasure to see a few and would sure like to see more. Here's a couple of note......... http://photos.imageevent.com/ricklarson/privatecollections/Private%20collection.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/ricklarson/privatecollections/Private%20collection%201.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/ricklarson/privatecollections/Private%20collection%202.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/ricklarson/privatecollections/Private%20collection%204.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/ricklarson/privatecollections/Private%20collection%205.jpg http://photos.imageevent.com/ricklarson/privatecollections/Private%20collection%206.jpg If anyone else recognizes these collections, please keep it to yourself. I'm not trying to out anyone here, just share a few nice images of some anonymous collections. Thanks. |

Good call I read that this was exactly that. It was created during the ACR trials (see: Black Rifle II) |
