CDVS.US has 20mm Vulcan TPT projectiles w/o tracer available in 3 grades: bead blasted @ $189.95/100, washed @ $129.95/100 and grungy as-is @ $99.95/100. Here are links to what they are offering:

http://www.cdvs.us/20mm-Vulcan-TPT-projectile-wo-tracer-washed-100-projectile-pack-P627.aspx
http://www.cdvs.us/20mm-Vulcan-TPT-projectile-wo-tracer-As-is-100-projectile-pack-P629.aspx

These appear to be about the cheapest projectiles still available. Has anyone used these to load 20x102mm and, if so, were the results satisfactory or not?

Cant comment on the 20mm but i have bought from CDVS in the past, everything went smoothly and the bullets were as described.

If youre not looking for super long range accuracy i would think any of those would be fine. You can also have local machine shops mill rounds for you as well, if you do enough quantity it can get pretty cheap.

Agreed on CDVS being top notch. I bought from them when they first opened with RVOW's old inventory when that company shut down.

I haven't used those projectiles bought from CDVS, but back when RVOW was around they had what seems to be exactly the same for sale, I bought a few hundred. They worked fine for me, although I did mix up some tracer composition and seat it in place with a hydraulic press and a die to support the bullet, then a thin layer of ignition mix and pressed a second time. It ignited just fine with 590gr of WC872, and they were on par with using the 1520gr solid TP projectiles in terms of accuracy. More enjoyable, and much more impressive at night. At closer range and if shooting at anything more solid than the dirt berms, the bullet would basically explode and the remainder of the tracer composition made a wonderful, bright flash.

Thanks for the feedback about the projectiles and CDVS. I've dealt with Sean at CDVS only once and that transaction was fine. My main source for 20mm projectiles and cases had been Old Sarge's Drop Zone until he sold out of everything. My WC872 powder came from Widener's and I've bought a few 20mm odds and ends from James Copley. I also picked up an M61A1 Vulcan barrel from Shady Grady on GunBroker for a "some day when I have the time" project. All of those transactions were trouble free as well.

I think I'll order some of these projos from CDVS and give 'em a try after I get my press and dies. I'll have to shoot them without any tracer compound though, since tracers aren't allowed on any of the ranges I have access to.

Buy the already cleaned and bead blasted ones. The boxes I bought were "as pulled" which was all RVOW sold at the time. They were a nightmare to clean manually!

You have one of Shady Grady's barrels as well? His prices aren't the lowest, but they certainly are great barrels. I have a handful from when he was selling them for quite a bit less, and I've been pleased so far. I even have a couple of spares. Even at his current asking price, they're a good deal, far better than the IMA-USA imported barrels from a while ago that were going for under $500 each.

Also, it seems like good news that they no longer have a tracer pellet. If they did, you couldn't use them at your local ranges. Win-win.

I have to ask... is the James Copley you dealt with James W. Copley, the fellow who had issues with the M228 fuzes?

I do have an Anzio mag fed, but I also built a few other 20mm rifles. I don't have a 20mm on a carriage or anything like that, I save that sort of thing for bigger guns.

Yes, one and the same James Copley. He used to have a fair number of things he was selling through GunBroker. Fortunately, all I ever bought from him were primers and a few pieces of new, never loaded M103 brass. According to write-ups I saw in the Cleveland media, the feds executed search warrants against his RV and home and seized M228 fuses, a couple of types of 40mm flares and his computer, among other things. I never have heard what the final outcome of his case was. As slow as the judicial system moves, it may still be pending.

He still had a few items listed on GunBroker as recently as 1-2 weeks ago.

Mine is an Anzio mag fed as well. Just got it out of ATF limbo a few days ago and haven't even popped a cap in it yet. A couple of years back I decided I wanted a rifle chambered in 20x102mm and I started collecting components and reloading information.

Looks like a very fun gun, I had my eye on one for awhile but like always there are a dozen things I want but never enough funds in the bank account. Also, finding places to shoot long range in Ohio is really difficult, you can count the number of 100+ yard ranges open to the public on one hand.
