I thought I remembered seeing somewhere that ATF put the hammer down on these, banning them. I have searched the ATF web page and used google, but to no avail. Can someone give me the current intel on these?

Thx

I believe ATF decided that using Birdbombs in a 37mm made the 37mm a DD, needing registration as such.

Yeah, sort of, I found it.

They are not DD's, but they are explosive devices and you need an explosives license to possess or sell them and an explosive storage locker for them.

That newsletter says you only need a license to distribute/sell them and specifically says they can't be sold at a gunshow.
Nothing about any special requirement for personal/farm use for pest control.

The problem with the 12ga version was that not many of the people that make them would sell to joe blow even though it was legal.

We were trying to get some for a local biologist and the companys we called basically required official type letterhead directly from the agency buying them
