I've got my eye on the 12" barrel model.  At first I wanted to mount it on my AR, but got to thinking I'd like to have the option of mounting it to a stand-alone version.  If you look in LMT's catalog they do offer a rail mount with pistol-grip, but I'd much rather have something with a stock extension of some kind for a little more control and accuracy.  I don't know of anyone who makes this though.  Please post links if you know and if I need to purchase a specific model for a rail system.

If I could do it again, I'd get the railmount. There are some down sides to the rail mount. Apparently the 40mm to 12 gauge conversions can get a little hot and hurt the mount. I think that Vaughn at Autoweapons.com  has a pistol unit with a rifle buttstock. Knight's armament has a unit that mounts to a rail with a buttstock also.

The standard knights system uses the old-style barrel mount M203.  They may have something new available, but this is the traditional system.  I love my standalone setup, and have never bothered to mount my M203 to a rifle.

Ok just so I understand this correctly...

LMT has 2 models with a 12" barrel, L2D and LMP380L360

The L2D would be the one to purchase to fit in the setup you have displayed in your picture, correct?  Is this model also able to be fitted to a rifle, or would I have to purchase the LMP380L360 instead?  Although my intention is to have a setup similar to the picture you have, I'd like the option of mounting it to a rifle just for kicks.

I'd get the 9" barrel.  Nothing to be gained with the 12" barrel, it's just less handy.

I don't know model numbers, but my LMT unit mounts to the barrel and not a rail.  This is the mounting system used by the knights standalone system pictured and also the traditional mounting system used since the early 1970s.
