I am wondering which is better IYO, a stand alone like the M79 or under bbl like the M203?
also, which one of the M203 sights is better, I remember in Basic one was good and the other was crap but I can't remember for the life of me which was which. |

Your choice of launchers is completely personal preference. I have both, and like each for different reasons. I did get a stand alone mount for my 203, as here at the ranch, there is really no need to have it mounted, plus I use it a lot. As far as sights go, I always liked the leaf better, as the quadrant tended to get snagged on things like brush, trees, and gear straps. Plus, unless you have enough time and munitons to really sit and sight the thing in... Close counts in grenades, remember? |

does the M79 have any better performance over the M203? An M79 will outperfom a 203 any day and twice on Sundays. Even a stand alone 203 can't hold a flame to a M79. The sights on a 79 are way more precise. There's a lot of Kentucky windage involved with aiming a 203 at any range with either sight. |

There is no way I would ever describe the leaf sights on the M79 as "precise".
It is an indirect fire weapon that fires munitions that are prone to weather conditions in their ballistic trajectory. Anything beyond 150-200 meters is considered an AREA target anywho. Yes a person can become a good shot or even a great shot with practice and develop an "angle of the dangle" to snap fire with reasonable accuracy. It really comes to personal preference: do you want to carry an ADDITIONAL fixed stock weapon that must be transitioned to or from or an underslung weapon that must be transitioned to or from? Me personally, I would choose neither the M79 or the M203 and go with the HK-69. But I am just partial to folding stocks / pistol 40mm (I will post a pic tomorrow...) ~ Will |

M79s are extremely accurate in the hands of an experienced shooter, or even a a non experienced shooter with the proper training. The HK-69 is a nice weapon, one of the few HK weapons I actually like. But even the HK 69 has nothing on the M79, except maybe the fact that it is very compact. |

There was some milling and lathe work that needed to be done to finish it up then I believe she is going to put a finish on it. She's had it for a while now. Hopefully she'll get to it soon. I bought it to use as a smooth bore, as a blank, so I can re-use the projectiles. That rifling really messes up rotating bands. I'm still using the 37 barrel on it for now I bought from Randy, but I have very few 37 munitions to go with it. Most of my stock is 40mm. Oh well... Soon. Be nice to pick up one of those sights, with a built in range finder. |
