Hello I'm looking at getting Spikes 37mm havoc rail mount launcher.

I'm wondering How easy it it to remove from the rail? (looks like a push button release)

Also what's the difference between the sloted and solid tubes? (pics of each?)

Will a YHM light weight rail be able to handle the weight or should I get a different type rail?

How do the two sizes look on 16 and 20 in ARs?

And lastly, where can I get preloaded flares and smokers? I'll reload but I want some factory rounds to give me ideas. That's just to tide me till it's a registered DD. And when it's registered where can I get the beanbag and beehive rounds?

Thanks for your input in advance.

Not sure I understand your question about the ease of removing because of the push button release.  The HAVOC slides onto your existing rail and bolts down from the inside.  A YHM lighweight rail will work just fine.  The push button is to slide the tube open for loading.  If you keep going the tube or barrel will slide off completely.  I have a 9" HAVOC which looks great on a 9" rail.  You will have to guess which one you want for a 20" rifle.  I have no idea where to get commercial smoke or flares as mine is registered as a DD and I reload my own.  Go to the sticky at the top if this forum and you will find web sites that sell everything you could want.  I reload my own practice chalk rounds, explosive practice rounds, and Flaschette rounds.  All of my rounds are based on resin pusher wads and nosecones I cast myself with molds I purchased from Mike Patterson.  Empty 35mm film cans make up the body of my projectiles and I load the film cans with Flaschettes, buckshot, chalk, cherry bombs (for explosive rounds).  I get my empty aluminum casings from www.brassman.com and they cost about $2.50 each but you can reload them for a lifetime.  I also get "booster casings" from Mike Patterson and they cost $9.00 each and again last a lifetime.  The nice thing about Mike's booster casings is that you use half the black powder and they launch your projectiles twice as far (up to 300 yards).  Beehive rounds only come in 40mm.  You will have to get a macninest to turn it down to 37mm.  If you do get a Beehive the best place is from the maker himself, which is Randy Shivak (440) 284-1004 but DO NOT ask him to turn it down to 37mm.  He will NOT do it.  Randy makes an 18 round and 9 round Beehive.  The ONLY one that can be turned down is the 9 but is more expensive than the other because the 9 has rifled barrels.

Here are some pictures on my HAVOC on my 11" XCR.  The blue rounds are practice chalk rounds.  My "explosive" practice rounds have orange nosecones.

I just put a full-size on a 7" DD Omega rail, and it looks great IMO

Both of those rifles look beautiful with the launchers.  Maddog thanks for the info. Since I couldn't see any side screws I thought the button was to release from the rail (quick release) but set screws are fine by me. Better fit that way.

Both of the launchers have the solid tube, correct? Any Idea wht the sloted tube looks like? I can't find a picture of one anywhere even on Spikes website.

Also in the faq it lists some dealers but none that sell 37 mm supplies. Alsio Maddog did you buy Grogs reloading cd or did you find other info to start with?

A friend gave me Grog's reloading CD's and they are VERY informative.  I haven't seen the slotted barrel in person but have seen them on Spike's old web site.  There may still be a picture up but I didn't like the looks of it.  Looks like a makeshift A2 flash hider.  Just think of 1.5" oval holes milled all the way arount the end of the tube/barrel.  Call Mike Patterson (you can find his phone number on grog's web site) as he can make you some silicone molds so you can resin cast your own projectiles.  Mike is also a wealth of 37mm information.
