Hey guys, I am considering a 37 or 40mm launcher for my AR and need some info on the legalities in North Carolina and places to look for pricing and smoke grenades for the launcher. All I want is smoke, not looking for anything that blows up. If you can, please help and point me in the right direction for info and please post any info you think could help me. Thanks in advance.

if your only interested in shooting smoke, then go for a 37mm they are several hundred cheaper than 40mm and dont need any special registration.

Order Grogs DVD it can give you some tips on relaoding, you will have to make your own smoke rounds, this can be done with sugar or charcoal and potassium nitrate im sure there are other mixes as well, i've maade some rounds just useing common fireworks smokebombs.

the havac launcher seems to be a very nice laucnher int he 4-500 range, and the cheaper cobray launchers go 2-300, but dont really look as nice but thats all personal oppinion. You can purchase plastic 40mm cases to make into 37mm cases, or 37mm reloading kits but i dont think commercial smoke rounds for 37mm are as commonly found as smoke for 40mm rounds, you can find a lot of items for both on gunbroker.com and links at grogs 37mm.com

I agree with the above post except for commercial 37mm stuff not being available.  It is just as if not more available than 40mm stuff (at least for smoke, flares and starburst rounds), however, it's stupid expensive.   You do NOT want to get into it if you don't think you will want to load your own.  It's just not worth it.  HOwever, re-loading is 90% of the fun for me.

The stuff you will find on this site can be reloaded so simply for $1 or $2 a round and some can be even less than $1.

As far as NC laws, can't help you.

Thanks much, I may have to look into reloading.
