Where do you install a light or light/laser combo?

Only thing I know of was there was an adapter to put a light on the bottom of the magazine, but not sure if that is still around or not.

It's keymod, so any keymod rail section should work.

Look at RDTCUs picture. There are 3 keymod holes on the front.

It's keymod.  There is keymod on the bottom of the baffles for a flashlight, also a RMR cut on top of it.

I've held who knows how many revisions and shot a few versions.

That is cool that they added the RMR cuts. Where is that located on the silencer or the slide?

I really wanted a Maxim 9, but I'll be honest, I hate the production frame geometry and texture compared to the M&P based prototypes...

Looking better all the time.
Got to admit that the frame seems a little "3-D printish".

Most(if not all) of the ones you see are 3D printed. Production model will be injection molded.

Basically a cam lever and a button for rear assembly, similar to salvo for the suppressor end.

It would be cool if they made a non-supressed version so that the option could be added on later. Not sure how this thing is designed though so I'm talking mostly out of my ass.

Might as well buy a regular hang gun at that point, no?

The more I see of this the more I like it.

Carrying around tax stamp paperwork when you had it on you for carrying purposes would be a tad annoying.

Why do these companies keep forcing this loosing, sooner or later be totally gone keymod bullshit?  It's a sinking ship. Dealers constantly say it gets outsold by 4 to 1 by mlok. It's not as secure (study done by Crane).

Between sales and the fact that mlok is stronger and Magpul is behind it you'd think these companies would get a clue. I think BCM finally grew a brain and is doing some mlok.

There is no way this was a fact or sales based decision to go with keymod. Annoying move on the part of SiCo.

I love how, in one of the YouTube videos dude from SiCo spouted off BS on how they felt it offered the most amount of choices (factually incorrect) when asked why they chose it over mlok or regular rail. Just the way he was even saying it suggested even he didn't believe it.

Yeah sico doesn't show the bottom.

I like keymod for looks but have only dealt with mlok rails and I hate them.  Nothing is as easy as a pic rail.

On the maxim I don't really care as it will be my night stand gun and will get a light that's never removed

I think you're missing the point of all these new attachment systems.
Nobody needs four feet of rail. If you can use a thinner, lighter tube and add mounts where you need them, you don't have to lug around a cheese grater, boat anchor quad rail.

My guess is that the length of the mount surface played a significant role in selecting the keymod over M-Lok. The three keymod slots look like they will provide more coverage than a single M-Lok slot. I don't think two M-Lok slots will fit on that surface as they seem to be too long. I'm glad they picked keymod over some proprietary pattern but I would have preferred M-Lok as well. When I purchase the Maxim, it'll be the only keymod thing in my collection and it will have to make friends with the 7 or 8 rifles wearing M-Lok rails.

It's easy to get apart to clean.  It's like a handgun (but not a Ruger MK2/3... those are another story)   If can clean an AR, you're MORE than able to clean a Maxim 9.  It's probably on par with a 1911 in terms of ease of cleaning.  A little bit more tricky than say a Glock, but not a problem at all.   The reason I use a 1911 is you have to be cautious of the "idiot scratch"  ... or maybe like a Sig 320 where you have to not let it "fire" with the slide off or it can be a touch more tricky to get back together.

Heck, maybe on par with a Glock since some people have trouble with pulling both tabs down.

It's easy.

I don't have a perfect or exact answer, but I've spoken with them about it.  I think the general statement is "MLOK wouldn't work out well."   Be it the lengths of the mlok channels vs keymod, or keymod for integrated support for something unannounced.

I think you are right regarding the length issue.

Fwiw, I have both MLok and Keymod hand guards. Swapping accessories isn't the pita I thought it might be, though finding you are short X mount for MLok when you have a spare that is Keymod or vice versa can be annoying.

I personally much prefer the feel of Keymod in hand and dislike rail covers or slot covers, so I am anxiously awaiting BCM's introduction of MLok "KMRs" so I can grab some second hand KMRs when the market is flooded this fall. Then I will go all Keymod except for my 15-22. Also, have you noticed that when a company offers both MLok and Keymod versions of a hand guard the Keymod version weighs less?

I'm still all for KeyMod, and I don't even have a Keymod anything.
On the Maxim, I'll take whatever they use, even if it's a milled in proprietary HK mount.

This is a cool enough and innovative enough gun that I'll be an early adopter for the first time since, well, the TPD "AUG".
