I want to build a light, short .260 for hunting and using my Thunderbeast 30P-1. At 20 inches the sporter barrel I am looking at is .631 inches. Too small for 9/16. Would I be ok doing 1/2x28 and an adaptor up to 5/8x24 on the 6.5 bore?

Thunderbeast does make a 1/2x28 30 caliber brake but you have to call in to their support line to be blessed with the opportunity to purchase one. I was approved to purchase one for a .243 Win Mohawk. It seems they aren't keen on putting it up for general purchase unlike many other silencer manufacturers that offer them. They want to be sure you have enough wall thickness (to satisfy them not you) and I'm not sure if the bore cutoff for them is .260, .270, or other.
Listen to Joshua - don't use an adapter. If Thunderbeast won't sell you one just purchase a normal 1/2x28 brake and have it bored out by a competent machinist. |

Since you have s 30P-1, the adapter route is the least costliest option but, I don't like adapters either.
You could take advantage of their recore service and change the threads to 1/2x28 or move from the DT to a brake attach. Of course that is more expensive. I'm going through the same issue with my personal 6.5CM build. 1/2x28 threads are the only option. Luckily, I was able to get a 1/2x28 .30 caliber brake for use with my TBAC Ultra 5-6.5. |

The suppressor is threaded 5/8x24 direct thread so a brake is not an option. The most of the rest of my rifles are threaded 5/8x24 so I don't want to change the thread of the can. My choices at this point are: thread 1/2x28 and hope there is enough wall thickness to be durable (I know a few larger calibers are threaded 1/2 and seem to be ok) and use the 1/2-5/8 TROS adapter that I use with great success on my .223, OR thread 9/16x24 and still use an adapter but have better wall thickness on the barrel. Hope that makes sense.
