Hey, anyone own a Gemtech One?
I got my Gemtech One a few months back. I shot it numerous times on my SBR 300 blackout both with and without subs. With ear pro it seems pretty quiet. Without ear pro it still seems loud. I recently got a gemtech HVT-QM and it was significantly quieter. Although it's not super accurate the website says a 32db reduction for the one and only a 30db for the hvt. I dunno, I get that suppressors aren't hollywood quiet but at the same time I'm feeling a little let down with my one. Is it possible that there is a manufacturer defect for my one? Perhaps I was expecting too much. Perhaps I'm over thinking it. Curious to see what you guys think. |

You are expecting too much.
Cans do a lot to reduce noise, recoil, flash.... however, no can will eliminate the sonic crack you hear from non-sub ammo. Try shooting subs and you will see a significant difference. I have slayed about a dozen deer with my Gemtech One, mounted on my LaRue OBR 7.62. Â It is such a pleasure to shoot with that can. Â Also, while hunting with a partner, they aren't getting punched in the side of the face or having their eardrums destroyed by the shot anymore. |
| Remember you, the shooter, getting report from the port door. If you haven't yet, let someone else shoot (subsonic ammo) and stand behind them around the 8 o'clock position. Like you said suppressors are not meant to be Hollywood quiet. They have other advantages. |

The Gemtech One is a great can, and I like the Gemtech Quickmount system. I think your expectations are out of line with what a rifle suppressor is capable of. AR's tend to be loud, even with 300 BLK subsonic. There's a lot of action noise. Try a bolt rifle or single shot and you'll see how much of a difference it makes.
Personally, I think if Gemtech had beaten the Omega to market and been more competitive on the price, the One would be a top-selling .30 caliber suppressor. IIRC, they were announced at roughly the same time, but the One didn't even reach dealers until Omega buyers started receiving their stamps back so SiCo had all the momentum for modular-mount suppressors. |

I have a quicksand after having adopted to Gemtech early on. I went with them over surefier and others years ago cause they had mounts up the ass for all the weird platforms I own (Steyr aug (13x1), Swiss Sig (14x1 lh), hk 91, hk93, ps90, m1a scout, FNC, etc). They produced and I mounted it on anything and everything. Even had some cool flash hiders teamed up with other guys like the smith vortex, the pws triad (I NEED ONE or THREE) and the lantac now all with their quickmount system. Would have loved to get a one, but because of my desire to shoot cans with full auto in super short length and no question asked I went with dead air who has no barrel length limits.
Either way, i still love me my gemtechs, also have a trek which is bulletproof and has a permanent home on a 11.5 upper. |

I have a One and getting ready to purchase a second. With 300BO on a 10.5" with subsonics it's extremely quiet, 14.5 is still fairly quiet but out of a 16" barrel it starts getting "loud". The One suppresses 6.5 CM as good as anything I've heard, and the quick mount on a SOCOM 16 is absolutely badass and very quiet for 308.
