I've narrowed down the search. Not my first can, but it will be my first rimfire. Mainly just want it to be a tank and still sound good. SS baffles were a requirement.

If you fail to answer in 15 minutes or less you are required to buy all three. Rules. |

I have 2 of the 3, TBAC and Rugged. Â Both are quiet AF. Â I hear the CGS is also a good suppressor but I don't have any personal experience with it.
The TBAC is a little cheaper ($325) than the Rugged ($395). Â If modularity is important, the Rugged is the answer, if not, go with TBAC or CGS. Â Either way, you can't go wrong. |

Oculus looks very interesting to me :)
I have the Mask it's awesome my favorite overall thread on model great on pistol and rifle. My favorite "pistol" model is the Element II because it's lite weight 4oz , short 5" and quiet as anything else out there pistol wise right now. My Spectre II is also very, very quiet just a touch longer than the Mask and my GM-22 is awesome tone/quietness wise on a rifle, but pistol FRP is noticeable unless you shoot it wet then FRP is history. I like the GM-22 for when weight is a issue at 2.5oz's you don't even notice the weight on a pistol. For a first can the Mask,Oculus or Spectre II would be my choices. After you get two or three you can afford to specialize to certain setups such as lite-weight,short, pistol/rifle model etc etc . |
| Not what the OP asked, but I went with a Spectre II, and have been extremely pleased with it on my M&P22 pistol. It is all SS, built like a tank, and SiCo has absurdly good CS. I felt good about buying their product, and I have been nothing but pleased with the actual product, all emotion aside. It is very quiet, and my ears cannot pick up on any FRP. I can typically hear a 2-3dB difference, so that's pretty decent! It's quieter than I thought it would be, and it was the last can I bought. It truly fulfills the Hollywood image deal. |

"Quiet" is relative. I've found rimfire cans all sound pretty similar after a few shots. The first-round-pop is where you get a lot of differences. See video.
I can't comment on any of the cans you mentioned. But if I was shopping for another rimfire can I'd look at length, weight, construction, and FRP. ![]() TAC67 vs. AAC Element |

I'm assuming the one in the shooters left hand is the AAC Element II? I have a DA Mask in jail but from everything I've seen and read, the Mask seems to be the best overall/do-it-all .22 can available. If I was buying a second 22 suppressor, I would get the Element II for pistol use because of how good it sounds and how crazy light it is. If it wasn't for 41F, I'd probably have an Element II and Gemtech Mist in jail now too |

I've got a Regulator and Mask with an El Camino in jail.
I love the Regulator simplicity with the monocore design. It also sounds great for a monocore with minimal FRP. What sucks is trying to take it apart after a bunch of shooting with crud getting between the core and tube. The left hand thread back mount is nifty for staying put under a handguard. The Mask sounds great and is a nice size. Disassembled and cleans easily. I don't like how the rear mount can come unscrewed from the tube when trying to take the entire silencer off. A non issue unless you are running it under a rail. No personal experience with the El Camino but it looks like a great sounding can, easy to disassemble and clean, and no rear mount to come undone. I'm sure the Oculus is a great silencer I just don't see much use in a modular .22 can when size and weight are already on the low end of things. |

I can tell you which one I wouldn't buy... the Rugged Oculus. I know I'm in the minority here but I don't care for these modular suppressors and see absolutely no reason for it in .22LR. Just my $.02 For $25 I will weld your tube to be one piece. No longer modular. |
| I purchased the takedown last year. Don't have it yet but If I had it to do over, I'd get the occulus. Ive purchased about all I am going to in the 22 can realm, but if something changes with the hearing protection act, I'd add the occulus. I also have the spectre II and am very happy with it. |
|
Of the three choices you gave, I picked the Oculus.
If it was my money (and it was), I'd go with either the Spectre II or the Mask. While the ability to have a shorter 22 suppressor is interesting, I don't think a 5"-6" suppressor is too long to enjoy. I'm not sure I would take the time to change the length often since it's always better in the long config - while a neat feature, not one I think I'd use much. Have fun, Bob S. |
|
From the numbers on the Silencer Shop testing with the Occulus in the K-config, I can't imagine any reason to shoot it that way, too loud.
I know it is not on your list, but I would vote the Mask, picking mine up tomorrow, or a Spectre II, which I also have and find it great. |
| I have a Mask and a Spectre II. The Mask looks better and is shorter but sounds the same on my 22/45 as near as I can tell. Beyond that I haven't shot it enough to see a difference (too cold here for much range time). I do prefer how the baffles are indexed to line up on their own, slight difference from the Spectre II. If/when I buy another .22 can it will probably be an Occulus just because I like the option of modulairty (which spell check says isn't a real word). |
Spell check is correct, modulairty isn't a word but modularity is.
I'm in the same boat as a lot of guys. I have a Sparrow and a Mask so my next rimfire can will be modular or lightweight. Or both (Erector). The Specter II is hard to beat for a first can, especially if you have a use for the $200 credit. |

Just did the paperwork for my first rimfire can this week. Figured I needed to round out the collection. Went with the Spectre II. The $200 credit pushed me over the edge. |
