Should i FO? Would only be buying as a suppressor host. Anyone shot one suppressed? The rimfire cans i have in jail are Spectre 2,  Element 2, Mask and Radical Firearms RF22. Seller wants $300. Can probably get them down on the price some.

Have one. It was and still is a jammomatic. I purchased it used from a shop that received it as a trade in after someone had taken a literal file to th FCG. Paid $50 for it and chucked the fire control parts and got new factory parts. After putting everything back together, I could never get more than 4-5 shots without a jam, misfeed or FTE.

wouldnt be my first choice. I'd rather build up or buy a Ruger Charger as a host.

So based on Engineer's comments, are you confident you can get your money out of you hate it?

I owned one when it came out.
Rinky dink.
The firing pin broke after 60 rounds. And, IIRC the muzzle threads are a goofy size for a can.

I've had one for years but haven't even seen it probably 10 years. When I first got it I shoot the hell out of it. No issues w jamming at all. I even put one of those trigger crank things on it and it still wouldn't jam. I may be an exception though.

I have owned a few over the years, but just to sell.  They are junk, pure and simple.  The thread on the two of mine that were threaded was 1/2x20x.620", so pretty much nothing fits it.  I tried to get adapters, but gave up when absolutely nothing would fire more than two or three rounds through ANY type of magazine without a jam.  Buy a Ruger Charger instead. Same money, 1000 times the gun.  I have a review here if you want to check it out:

I keep mine merely because it was a gift from the Wife.
I think I shot it a couple decades ago.

Thanks guys, I was going to offer $200 for it, but now I am going to pass after reading the comments. I can blow that money on mounts and such

not the most durable guns either and the added stress of running a can can't do it any favors.  there are now so many more options in this size with large capacity magazines available.

Bought one when they first came out and sold it a few years later to a buddy. The thing would go full auto randomly and then jam.

I will offer a minority counterpoint on the Tec-22.

I bought mine circa 1998/99 and have never had any issues with mine and it is fairly reliable (it is a 22lr after all) and have never broken any parts.

I had an SRT Comanche 22lr Suppressor bored out and a bunch of threaded inserts made maybe a decade back or so.

The Comanche was one of the only all stainless take apart suppressors back then and I bought it to use on a handful of different full auto 22lr hosts/kits.     Basically I had it turned into what the Bowers Versa system eventually evolved into.   One of the inserts I had made at the time was 1/2x20tpi which was the factory Tec-22 thread pitch.

Overall it suppresses pretty well and is a fairly fun range toy with large capacity 10/22 mags.

Pros:

The Tec-22 is much smaller than a factory Ruger Charger pistol and weighs about half as much.
Takes commonly available 10/22 magazines.
Factory threaded*
Fairly inexpensive host in the $200ish range

Cons:

Quality can obviously be hit/miss
Parts while available... are not what I would consider prolific (like 10/22, Mark X, or 22/45 parts are)
Barrel threads are not a common thread pitch*
Fairly front heavy with a fully loaded mag (and a stainless/larger volume suppressor hanging off the front)

I don't think you can necessarily make a bad call here.  If you get a good one they are a fun relatively inexpensive range toy with mag commonality with the worlds most popular 22lr autoloading carbine.

If you got a dud, they are not a huge investment and your financial risk is pretty minor.

Personally I enjoy mine but don't shoot it very often as I have a bunch of other 22lr pistols that are more conducive to accurate/aimed fire.

Since this thread doesn't have a single picture....

A new argued Charger is cheaper, has factory and aftermarket support. As a bonus, it actually works!
