Quoted:
I've never heard of any different between them beyond the additional cuts vs need to be timed to the barrel. I'll second this, I think the main difference is the cuts for the flash hider in the birdcage. I'll compare to my buddy's a1 but I think my a2's are the same as far as exterior dimensions. At least last time we compared them they looked almost identical besides the cuts in the bottom of the a1. |

Haven't shot it with it on yet, but it fits and looking down the bore, clears just fine on my A1 carbine with A1 hider on it...I should take it out and make sure it works
The only thing is obviously make sure the device is shimmed, and if you want to, time it so the flats are at 3/9... |

I've had a Gemtech Halo for years, and I run it almost exclusively on A1 flash hiders. They only cost $5, and I don't need to time or index them.
I don't use any washer at all, just screw it down until it bottoms on the shoulder. I have had a few A1 flash hiders that were not cut properly, and wouldn't go down flush until they rested on the shoulder, but aside from that it's been quick and easy. |
