I'm considering another rifle silencer and was comparing between SilencerCo and AAC, and it seems that every comparable AAC is 50% heavier. Of course there are some SiCo's that are 50% heavier than other SiCo's too.
I'm very interested in the Hybrid, but wondering how it can be rated for big bore magnum rifles while only weighing 14 oz. At some point there has to be some connection between weight and durability, but I'm not sure if maybe improved design or manufacturing processes could account for the difference. Thoughts? |

If you're worried about the durability of am aluminum and SS suppressor, take a look at the titanium options, like the Omega, the direct thread version from YHM and others.
With a Ti direct thread module and Ti flat end cap the weight of the Omega drops to 11.3oz. For 5.56 the flat end cap would be fine, but with bigger cartridges I notice the reduced recoiled and muzzle rise (Edit: .... which the brake provides.) JPK |

Depends what you want out of a can. The AAC philosophy is have the right tool for the right job, sure a crescent wench works OK most of the time but doesn't really do one thing really well.
When you look at ratings you also need to factor in is it hearing safe? Some cans are "rated" for pistol calibers all the way up to magnum rifle calibers but meter far above hearing safe levels in most large and magnum configurations. Hearing protection is important and one thing to look hard at. |

Regardless, heavy sucks no matter what the purpose. JPK |
