| If you read my thread in the other subforum, I'll be resubmitting paperwork at the end of the month and may have an Omega 7.62 in my hand by next month. I plan to use it on two .308s and a .223. I would like a muzzle brake on a .308 and .223 but have quick mounts on all of them. I visited SilencerCo's website and I'm not intelligent enough to understand the ASR connection system exactly. Taking into account what the suppressor comes with, what else will I need to make my dreams come true? |

Taking into account what the suppressor comes with, what else will I need to make my dreams come true? it sounds like you will need a .223 muzzle device (brake or flash hider). The omega should ship with a .30 cal muzzle device (i cannot remember if it is a FH or brake). I believe if you register the omega with SICO they will ship you another 762 muzzle device and a pouch. I hope this helps. |

The Omega had a little more back pressure than I was expecting, but it works well. I shot 80 rounds in 15 shot speed drill volleys. It was smoking after each 15 shots. The whole gun was a little hot after the 80 rounds. I had one malfunction, cant remember what it was. With the direct thread, it came a little loose, just enough that it turned a little to snug back up, after each 15 shot volley. Probably gonna have to get a wave washer before any full auto fire. I have a 10.5" barrel. Cant comment on the sound level yet as I was shooting indoors. Its a good looking, small and compact package. I am using the 223 front cap. https://media.midwayusa.com/productimages/880x660/Primary/617/617547.jpg Jeff, thanks so much for the details. I apologize, but I'm just not understanding the .223 mounting. You used an adapter to connect you from the suppressor itself to the barrel itself? Or was there some sort of flash hider/muzzle brake you had on your .223? On the website you can buy a Specwar muzzle brake for the .223 that is Omega compatible. I figured the suppressor could be quick connected directly to that? |
| If you use the ASR mount on the Omega, it will mount to any ASR muzzle device, whether flash hider or muzzle brake or 556 or 762. If you don't use the ASR mount on the Omega you can use a direct thread mount to screw it directly on a 556 barrel (with a 1/2x28 mount) or a 762 barrel (with a 5/8x24 mount). For use on multiple hosts efficiency would suggest using the ASR mount on the can and putting ASR muzzle devices on all your hosts. |

The Omega ships with a 5/8x24 direct thread adapter, 30 caliber brake endcap, ASR mount, and a muzzle device of your choice (depends on your dealer).
To run the Omega in Quick Disconnect mode you will install the ASR mount into the base of the can. It stays attached to the can unless you want to use it in Direct Thread mode. You will need to install ASR muzzle devices (ASR muzzle brake or ASR flash hider) on each rifle you want to have quick disconnect capability. For your rifles you need: (QTY 2) 762 ASR Muzzle Brake (these are threaded 5/8x24 for your 308 rifles) (QTY 1) 556 ASR Muzzle Brake (this is threaded 1/2x28 for your 223 rifle) These muzzle devices will be semi-permanently mounted to you rifle barrel. They allow you to easily install the can with a little more than one rotation and lock the lock ring to keep it from coming loose during shooting. To remove the can simply unlock the lock ring and spin the can off. To run the Omega in Direct Thread mode the ASR mount should be removed from the can. Install the 5/8x24 insert to use it on 30 caliber hosts or install a 1/2x28 thread insert to use it on .223 rifles. The rifles should not have a muzzle device installed, the can will install onto the bare threads. Always check that the can is staying tight during shooting as they can loosen in direct thread mode. Note: You could run the can in direct thread mode using the 5/8x24 insert on both of your 308 rifles although I would stick with your original plan of installing muzzle devices for QD ability. |

Quoted: Myself nor my buddy could tell the difference between the 30 cal endcap and the 5.56 endcap. Both sounded about the same. Could you tell any difference at all in endcaps? Backpressure, cycling, whatever? When I was talking about a backpressure comparison, I was comparing the Omega to a Harvestor 30 cal. The Harvestor seemed to have less backpressure and was quieter was my initial impression. Im going to try them both side by side this weekend. |

After they mail you a FH for registering, email them and they'll trade out the 5/8" FH for a 1/2" FH. Too bad Silencerco doesn't give you the option to pick when you register. Probably would save them on some shipping charges for those that send the original back for 1/2x28 FH. |

SilencerCo registration lets you pick the caliber and type (flash hider or brake) of ASR muzzle device. No need to send anything back, just pick what you need.
From what I can tell the muzzle device supplied with the Omega in the box is a dealer level decision. The dealer I use, Capitol Armory, lets the customer choose any ASR muzzle device when you place your order. I've seen other dealers state the Omega comes with a 5/8x24 flash hider not giving the customer the ability to pick what they want. It probably comes down to whether or not they stock enough ASR muzzle devices to offer the option to pick your own. |
