I soak mine overnight in solvent and manually scrape the buildup off . Takes some time but it works the best .

I just use some solvent to clean off the loose carbon fouling and make sure the areas that seal around the O-ring are clean.

I put them in the "dip" solution with the monocore.

Solvent and a brass brush, if that fails they go in my SS tumbler.

No first round pop if you don't clean the sparrow.

Any reason why you guys are all trying to get the half pipes spotless?

I have about 1,000 rnds thru mine with no cleaning.  After each range session I open her up and if she disassembles easily, back together she goes.  When it becomes difficult she'll take a bath in the ultra sonic.

The dip works great, but like the guy notes it is a hazmat item.  Just to point it a bit, don't let used dip get on your skin ever.  Lead acetate will absorb through your skin insanely fast, to the point where the recommended handling for it is doubling up on nitrile gloves.

I have heard you can settle out the lead acetate from the solution with sulphuric acid, but the chemestry is beyond me.

(off topic) Funny thing is, for being so (reportedly) toxic the FDA approves Lead (II) acetate for use in cosmetics, especially and notably Grecian Formula hair coloring for men.  It is banned in cosmetics in Canada and Europe.  Go figure.

After I cleaned and silicone treated my Sparrow, wow, what a FRP.

It got better from there.

I swear everyone's a fucking assassin. I don't give a damn whether my can is slightly louder for the first round fired. I'm shooting hundreds of rounds. The first just doesn't matter. I don't even notice it.

As for cleaning, I take a wire brush tip for my dremel that fits pretty great in the two halves. I just run it down and back again in each half and the shit flies right off.

It's not always just the first round. On my VP9 with Osprey 45, I guarantee you the first round is louder than the subsequent rounds after every mag change.

Of course it's an apples to oranges comparison to the Sparrow but just sharing that it could happen with certain setups. All you need is for air to get back into the suppressor.

Which again leads me to the question of why the need to scrub the half pipes spotless when dirty ones help reduce FRP.

I like things clean, and to last a long time. That, and as I said, FRP is completely unimportant to me.

I have used a new quarter (sharper edges) with good success as a scraper.

No need for that sort of foul language and butthurt attitude madame. Nothing wrong with me wanting the quietest possible can for my hearing protection across various 22LR loads, subsonic or standard. Silencerco have already redesigned the Sparrow once before by offering an upgrade program, after realizing the shortcomings of the first version.  Perhaps public pressure can once again cause them to continue improving their products. And stop using words like 'assassin', lest we might think you begin to sound like an anti-gunner. This is 'Merica, where we get whatever the hell we want, just because!
