Almost done with my 300 blackout pistol (10.5") build and have started doing a bit of research on suppressors. To be honest though, the amount of different products is seemingly endless. And considering the wait and commitment that goes into a suppressor, I'm having some trouble picking.

I have three main calibers, 5.56, 300 blk and 9mm. I want something versatile but without giving up too much performance. It is more important to me to suppress the rifle rounds than it is to suppress the 9mm but I would still like the option if possible.

Another item I'm having a bit of trouble with is the muzzle devices that allow quick detach of the suppressor.

Anyway, I'm basically looking for some recommendations. In today's market there are always a bunch of directions one can go and still have a quality product but I guess I'm looking for some help narrowing those options down.

You may have better luck reading up in this section and your thread actually may get moved there.

Suppressor Forum

To answer your question, there are some differences in the way certain suppressors lock up but, overall, I've never had issues with any of mine which include examples from KAC, Surefire, and AAC. I've also used and have experience with SilencerCo and feel they all fit secure enough for it not to be a concern.

I tried looking for a suppressor section and couldn't find it. My apologies.

Do you have a budget? I think you should consider two cans.

I would like to stay in the 1k range. If I had to pick a can to purchase first it would be the one for rifle ammo.

So many great options out there. Would you prioritize suppression, length, weight?

Tell me about it. lol

Most important to least important for me: Suppression > Weight > Length

A good analogy in these "which can" scenarios is buying a car.

I want to buy a new car, what should I get?

Tell us a little more about what you'll be doing with your new silencers.  Don't worry, we will find a way to spend your money.

Don't worry you won't have to try hard. Lol.

It will spend most of its time on the 300 bo, might hop onto a 5.56 occasionally. Occasional hog hunting but primarily it will be a hd gun that will probably run through a few courses.

I would go with a Rugged Surge or a Sandman L

Dead Air Sandman S, Rugged Razor, Griffin Recce 7.

All three are very small, very durable, and have great mounting systems. There's not much more you can ask for from a rifle can.

Currently I am considering the sandman S, the Rugged razor and the rugged surge.

I am mainly considering the surge because a local dealer has on in stock.

Any objections to the surge? The mounting systems seems really cool

This is key in the current climate.  And that's a good can.  Buy it.

I get that some people want hands on before a $1k purchase but 41p is far enough off that in stock at an out of state dealer doesn't worry me

Sounds like the Surge is a good fit for you.  One in stock at your local dealer would seal the deal for me...

Surge is a great option I think.  Even in the short config it is still lighter than the Sandman S.

Someone posted on the SBR forum that their Form 3 took 12 weeks to clear.

I'm not sure if that is true or not...but current approval times never take into account what's "in the pipeline".  If there is a wave of applications already submitted, or the average daily submission rate continues to climb, there's no telling where things will be 30-60 days from now.

Has anyone compared the decibel readings of the surge to something like the spec war or sandman?

If I was to start from scratch all over again? I wouldn't get sucked in to the hype. Don't focus so much on what everyone is hyping on here but customer service of the MFG and what meets your pre-determined parameters with what is in stock locally.

Suppressor game is like this: Gemtech halo is the best! No the M4-2000 is the best! SDN-6 is the best! Specwar! no, Saker is the best! Specwar! No Omega is the best! No Sandman is the best! No surge is the best!

Pretty much what is the new hotness right now, will be a gigantic overweight and obnoxiously loud turd according to people on the interwebs 6 months from now. So you are just better off realizing that most major brands are roughly equal performance wise and most figures are either manipulated or so close as to be indistinguishable to the actual ear.

Thanks for the help guys. I put the surge in jail today and already I'm thinking about putting a pistol suppressor in jail. Oh boy I'm in trouble.
