I've got a 9mm micro can from a smaller manufacturer that is pretty much useless. It uses a very crude monocore. It won't function on anything but my super tuned race gun, and is extremely loud even on my .22's. I know what is reasonable to expect from a short can (4" long) but I've had multiple people agree that they can't tell a difference when it's on.

I have a local mfg with proper licensing to do the work. The tube is made from 6061. Am I allowed to create a new mounting system? Possibly create a sleeve inside to maybe increase the pressure rating?

What's the can if you care to share?

Title says "unused" and thread says its fired and ineffective.

Thompson Machine DBSD.

Unused meaning it sits in my safe because it's just about useless as it sits. I updated the title for clarification.

What expectations did you have for it? Did you get in on the $189 sales?

Mine lives on my 1895 Nagant until I actually get the CZ threaded. It functioned fine on my 92 FWIW. Admittedly, I never remembered to run it on the G22 with a 9mm barrel.

Are you using the wipe? Running it wet? You can't even mention the ti-rant in the same sentence in regards to DB reduction but I enjoy it as a niche can (on a niche platform).

I really can't be any help in regards to upgrades.

Yes I'm running it wet. Yes I'm using wipes. Yes I'm using hot ammo. I've tried everything and it won't cycle and is extremely loud.

I'm glad yours works well for you, but I'd like to pursue other options in regards to improving the can.

An 07/02 can do anything to it except change the tube length or the caliber. They can change out mounts, endcaps, baffles, sleeve it, etc.

I ordered one of those cans last month.  I hope I'm not wasting my money.  Mine will be going on a Sig P226.

May need to rethink that P226 part

I enjoy mine on the Nagant and hope it to be enjoyable on the fixed barrel CZ

Has anyone ever heard of sleeving a suppressor to increase the pressure rating and doing it successfully?

Have you tried contacting Brooks at Thompson Machine?    I own an Isis 2 can and he has been very responsive to questions before and after the sale.  Depending on when your micro can was made, he may have come up with an improved monocore design.    Wouldnt hurt to ask if there are any available upgrades from Thompson Machine.

Micro cans are a highly niche market.    You really cant compare them with full size pistol cans.   Even when run wet and wiped, they start getting louder in as little as 3-5 shots.

I've contacted Brooks and he was as helpful as could be regarding the situation. It didn't solve any of the cycling issues, however.

At this point I'm more looking for options to play around with this thing in other applications.

Is there a way to put a booster on there?

Pretty sure the DBSD is a booster less can, similar to the Poseidon.

Yes, I own one. I'm asking if during the retrofit process you could add one?

Sorry about those pics, from an old iPhone 4

A can that size, in that caliber, with no booster is insanely limited. I think a Nagant is just about the only platform that makes sense, because a re-core isn't going to get you anything. Buying a Nagant for that can, and getting another, bigger, better pistol caliber silencer would be my advice.

With cans like the Revolution, Obsidian, and Ghost around, there's not as much of a need for micro cans.
