Im looking at my second SBR to run my first rifle can. I have narrowed it down to a Westernsport DD built upper im just having a little trouble on model.

Im basically between the DD WS-5, and the WS-10

Both have the 10.3 barrel, the WS-5 has a 9 inch rail and the WS-10 has the 10 inch rail.

Question being, with the WS-10 will I have enough room for mounting a can? Plan is to get a Dead Air Sandman-S however that's not set in stone yet.

Anyone with a similar setup? One of these Westernsport DD uppers other than a MK18 maybe?

For reference it looks like the MK18 DD HG is 9.55 in length.

Appreciate any insight from some of you veterans

I know the 10" is too long for my SiCo ASR mount.

I bought the 9" varient from WS. I eventually swapped out the rail for an MK8 9.5". The DD rail was too narrow to use with the Sentry 7 gas block I installed. You will find that the DD 10.3" barrels are very overgassed.

I don't 100% understand your MK18 reference but yes, those are 9.55" and will clear all mounts with a 10.3" barrel

The Western Sport DD 10.3" uppers don't use the RIS II. They use DD Lights & Omega X's. The also don't have the obnoxious laser engraving on the DD upper.

Yea sorry if there was any confusion.

The reference to the RIS II was simply out of relation to the lengths, as I knew the 9.55 did work with most cans. What im curious to is if there are any problems with the 10.0 lite rail..

Thanks

I don't own a DD lite rail but if I remember correctly the 10" is to long, actually in most cases a 10" rail of most kinds will be longer than the 10.3" barrel and cause issues with most suppressors being mounted.
