With all the choices, which is the best adapter to go with?  SilencerCo, EWK, the one from silencer shop?  Any input is appreciated.

Thanks

ETA:  I will be using a Spectre II

I went with the ekw. Very easy to remove with an Allen wrench and they have silencerco thread option.

I went with Gemtech's adapters on 2 of them. Love em.

I went with Twin City tactical - because it will take a wrench a lot easier than others -- PS let me know if you need the wrench to remove the thread cover on the barrel  I have a spare

I use the one from silencerco-it was the only one the dealer had in stock at the time. I got one from Gemtech as well on a ruger SR22. Any of the ones mentioned should work just fine.

I thought Ruger only made an an adapter for the Ruger SR22 pistol. It has some funky threading on the barrel.

To the OP: what suppressor do you have. Will it benefit from the O-ring engagement? That should narrow it down for you.

Derp... Just saw its a Spectre II...anything with an o-ring engagement...it works.

Since you are using a Spectre II, I recommend the SilencerCo adapter to take advantage of the O-ring engagement.

Twin Tech, with o-ring specs. They match the SiCo specs better than SiCo's own adapters...which have never matched their specs.

How does the Twin Tech adapter attach? Are there wrench flats that I just can't see in their product photo?

Sorry...must've hit Edit instead of Quote when I tried to reply the first time...

Yep. You can see them in these two pics, and also see where it has the thread relief that the specs call for where the two SiCo adapter don't.

BigWaylon, what thread protector do you use on the Twin Tech?

I think I bought a SiCo version, but don't actually remember. I'm not home, but I do have this pic saved:

Thanks for the pics. Yeah, I've brought it up to Silencerco in January and got the "thanks for your concern. we were unaware of this and it will be passed on to R&D" e-mail. I tried following up month later (after SHOT) but got no response. One of the few times I've been disappointed with Silencerco CS.

Only thing I have is it causes an issue with my fake suppressor on my AR57 since I'm running a SiCo 1/2-28 x 1/2-28 adapter when shooting unsuppressed (6" barrel under the monolithic upper)

Just take a larger drill bit and put a relief on the threads. I ran into the same problem with my HTA Kestrel 22.

I was just concerned I'd screw up the first thread. If it was a bolt where I could screw a nut on ahead of time to spin off and "recut" the threads (or at least clean them up) as I removed it, I'd already have attempted it.

I rarely shoot without the suppressor, so it's not too big of a deal.

Did it not come with one? Mine has an adapter already, I assumed they all came with one.

The "M&P22 Compact" (SKU 108390) did not while the "M&P22 Compact Suppressor" (SKU 10199) comes with the adapter (and a wrench).

I have both the Silencerco and EWK adaptors.  I won't use the Silencerco one because it indexes on the end of the muzzle.  Leaves a gap between the threads.  I emailed them and so far no response.

Which suppressor? Unless it's a Ryder, it's probably not indexing on the muzzle - but rather sitting on the "not-thread-relieved" portion of the adapter.

Could have. After buying that many adapters, I have no idea what came with what.

I thought he was saying the adapter indexed on the muzzle, not the can.

Spectre II.  The adaptor is supposed to index on the shoulder of the barrel threads, not the end of the muzzle.  It's a documented issue.

I'll try to find some links and maybe post a pic when I get a chance.  Best way to describe it is that the sico adaptor "bottoms out"  on the end of the muzzle before it makes contact with the shoulder on the barrel.  Not the best way to do it.  They need to adjust their specs.

The best thread adapter is the S&W M&P OEM thread adapter, the rest suck, save your money.

Just a heads up....Academy has the 10 round Compact mags on clearance for $16.

Also, does anyone know if the Twin Tech adapter comes with a thread protector?

Yes, in store.  2 stores in Houston had them marked down from $39.99 to $15.98 I believe.

SiCo and twin tech were both a no go for me, at least Smith includes a wrench that actually works with theirs....    When I have to get pliers to take a damn thread adapter off their is a problem, just saying.

I can barely keep my factory S&W adapter on, it always wants to walk loose.
