The quick highlights... it works well, mount functions well, changing between 7 and 9" versions is simple and fast.  In the shorter version it sounds like a great can for the size, on the 9" config it is a contender with the Specwar and Sandman-L.

Averages -
308 bolt  - 136.6
300 blk AR - 120.8
556 ar - 135.0
300 bolt - 121.3

Trying to make up my mind for a 300 blackout build...   How does the Surge compare to the Sandman S, at the shooters ear, when in the 7" configuration?

I'm in the same boat.  I like aspects of each that makes the choice difficult.  I ilke the muzzle device and mount of the Sandman and I dig the modularity of the Surge.

First world problems I guess...

To the shooters ear, the tone is a bit different but the 7" is comparable.   I would say the Surge 762 by a hair, but it's close... and maybe it's how I'm remembering things.  At that point it's splitting hairs.  The Sandman-S is still shorter than the Rugged in the small format.   I'm not disappointed with either one.
