Hi all!
I'm looking to order some ammo ahead of time while waiting for my can to get out of jail. My rifle is a Savage MKII FV-SR. I'm planning on just direct threading the suppressor on this rifle and leaving it there. Savage rifle page What ammo will work great with this combo? I'm looking at lowest noise for plinking and teaching my children (6 and 8) to shoot. |

For plinking, anything subsonic. CCI Standard Velocity, American Eagle Suppressor, Gemtech are all recommended.
CCI Quiet is stupid quiet out of the FV-SR @ ~700fps but it drops pretty quickly. You might want to get a Silencerco 1/2x28 to 1/2x28 with o-ring engagement adapter as the threads on an FV-SR are longer than 0.4" and will tear into the o-ring on the Spectre II. |

True with the older ones but I think newer ones have .400 threads. |

My FV-SR has .427" threads. I sent an e-mail to SilencerCo asking if I should bother with the adapter or rethreading since it's such a small difference.
The response was "You shouldn't have a problem running your Spectre II on your Savage if the threads from the shoulder of the barrel to the muzzle are .427". However if you see a decrease in accuracy then the threads are probably hitting the o-ring and canting the suppressor, and in this case you will need to run the 1/2x28 to 1/2x28 thread adapter." As far as ammo. I've had awesome luck from the FV-SR and Spectre II using Gemtech Subsonic, Fiochii Subsonic, CCI Quiet, and Remington Subsonic. And then obviously CCI SV is good to go. In regards to accuracy, the Gemtech and CCI are awesome. I've got a bunch of Wolf Match Target stuff too, but haven't tried it through the suppressor, mostly because I have just been shooting the rifle for fun, not groups... yet... I have a ton of other brands and types to try, but none of it is specifically subsonic. |
| Depending on your budget, the PWS T3 is about the best option I can see. Quicker than a bolt action and uses 10/22 parts. It is essentially a single-shot 10/22 that uses a straight-pull toggle rather than a bolt action or semi-auto. I've REALLY been enjoying the CCI Quiet and just manually cycling the 10/22 but I think a toggle-bolt dedicated SBR might be the bees knees. Haven't pulled the trigger yet, but I've read some good reviews. |

Get a case of GemTech .22. Sign up on their site for in stock notices or find out on Gunbroker. There is a guy in Louisiana that sells it for the same price as GemTech with free shipping.
Best .22 ammo out there and cci makes it specifically for them. Edit - if you want some fun, buy a new threaded Ruger Charger. |

ely match was on my short list. Their process for making 22lr is way better than what we use where I work--which is not Remington, Winchester, or CCI.
I'd be interested in the process Winchester uses at their new facility. I hear a lot of good about the Wolf and will try it. |

My new Spectre II came with a spacer from the factory it appears for rifles with threads longer than .4" just an FYI. |
