Nice info, thanks for the pics. I've been very happy with my m4-2k as well, it's built like a tank and puts up with abuse. No issues thus far

210 rounds 300 BLK supersonic (8")
30 rounds 556 (16'')
60 rounds 6.5 Grendel (16'')

485 total

12.3 oz

Q claims the stock weight of the TP to be 11.8 oz, I never weighed mine before firing it to confirm this but if that is true then over the course of 485 rounds it gained a 0.5 oz in weight which I doubt. We'll see if it changes after the next range session. Most of 300 BLK that has been through it was either S&B 200 gr subs or Australian Outback 110gr.

That’s about 0.4 grains of residue/carbon per shot, or about 1% of a .308 powder load by mass. Closer to 2% for a supersonic .300BO.  Seems a little high but not inconceivable. Lots of surface area and sharp corners in the can to collect build-up.

Got the @.

This is a KAC NT4 with approximately:

-2000-3000 rounds down the pipe mounted on a regular a2 style NT4 mount on two 14.5" guns
-500-1000 rounds on a BE Meyers Prototype NT4 mount on a 10.3"
-500-1000 through a MAMS NT4, Triple Tap, and Griffin Armaments NT4 comp on three 11.5"guns
-75-100 22lr rounds through it mounted to a 20" barrel.  But I don't like/reccomend using it on .22s.

Here are my jail-broken can's.  I don't have exact round counts but I can estimate.  All the 556 cans get used very roughly.

AAC M4-2000.  My oldest can, 10k+ rounds and lots of high volume shooting.  I haven't shot it in awhile, i've never noticed the silverish color on the blast baffles before.

AAC Mini-4.  5k - 10k rounds and a lots of high volume shooting.

Surefire Soccom: 10k+ rounds, used with 3P's, 4P's, CT's, warcomps.  The grooves cut in the blast baffle look deeper in person to me; this picture makes them look not to bad.

SAS Barricade: 500ish 6.5cm rounds on a precision rifle with a muzzle brake.  Light use for a can and there is no visible wear, just lots of copper residue.

Surefire 7.62 Mini: around 2k rounds mixed between 308 and 300blk with CT flash hiders and muzzle brakes.

YHM Turbo V1 with a brake @ a bit north of 1k rounds. Mostly through a 10.3" SBR with some usage in a 14.5" midlength. 100% handloads with CFE powder. Baffle looks pristine outside of being dirty.

Awesome thread, keep it up!

Does anyone have any particular pics or experience with 17-4 SS baffles (radials ideally) on short (10.5"-11.5") 5.56/.223 guns running "carbine course" firing schedules? What does wear look like? Flash hiders or muzzle breaks, please just specify!

YHM Phantom QD 556. I've owned this new since Mar 09. This can has had a mix of 223/5.56/22lr, through 20", 16", 14.5", 10.5" and has only been run FA a handful of times. I honestly cannot fathom how many rounds I've put through this, but on a conservative side I would say 75k+ easily as I am at the range at least once a week, some times 2 or 3 and I always have the can on one of my AR's I take.

Turbo at something like 5k rounds, all through brakes and 80% on a 10" SBR. Can keeps doing it's thing but has picked up about 2oz of weight

I've recently been shooting handloads with Ramshot TAC and it's imparting a visible red "stain" on the brake and the blast baffle. Not something I'm worried about, but interesting to note.

That doesn’t look like as much erosion as metal deposition.

Actually, any more pictures of direct thread cans? This Innovative Arms DT looks great compared to a lot of the FH cans with similar mileage in this thread.

Turbo K with somewhere around 2k rounds all on a 10.5" with a modified muzzle device.  I cut the brake off to save a bit of weight and when I do fire the gun unsuppressed its not as obnoxious.  Also using a kurz adapter.  This will give a "direct thread" approximation.

The blast baffle is fine, and so is the first main baffle. The second baffle has all the erosion, which is odd.

What an interesting result… could it be that the 17-4 baffles erode more quickly than the inconel blast baffle? Have there been any 17-4 blast baffles in this thread? I need to look through it again
