I search for something to read on this didn't see anything.
I bought a couple Seekins gas blocks for extra barrels. They really did have any instructions on tuning them in ? What is your drill to get the right setting ? Do you run the set screw in till it short stokes then out till it works or do you look for a certain extraction ? |

I just got an SLR Sentry 6 adjustable block. I am going to turn the adjusting screw until the gas is fully closed, then open it 4 clicks. I'll then fire 1 round.
If the bolt locks back, I'll close the screw 1 click and fire 1 more round. I will keep doing this until it short strokes, then I'll open it up two clicks to give a little room for error. If it short strokes, I'll open it up 1 click and then fire 1 more round. I will keep doing this until the bolt locks back, then open it one more click to give room for error. I will also look at where the brass is ejecting. I'm hoping to end up with it ejecting at 3-4 oclock. If not I will adjust accordingly and experiement a little. Ill do this process both unsuppressed and suppressed. I will make a note of how many clicks to set the block from "fully closed" to get it to run how I want with or without the can on. Hope this makes sense, it's late and I'm tired

Getting bolt lock back just means you are getting close. You want to then have 1 round in the chamber and then insert a fully loaded mag and run about 5 rounds as fast as you can to see if you encounter any malfunctions with the increased resistance on the bottom of the BCG from the fully loaded magazine. Most likely you will have to go up one more bit size (I'm referring to our Govnah gas block here which is based on actual port sizes....you would have to open up your set screw some in your case) to achieve reliability. We also do this on a relatively dry gun. Also note you should do this with whatever is the 'weakest' ammo you plan on running regularly as well. It may not be 'weak' it just may have a different burn rate. I've seen some ammo that is really hot with high velocities work with small gas port sizes in carbine length gas systems and then require larger port sizes for rifle length gas systems. |

Thanks for the replies I will get more range time next week and let you know how it turns out.
I have three different fun gun uppers for family and friends to shoot. They won't see much trigger time definitely no full auto/ long shot strings . So I didn't spend much on upper end gas systems. The caliber is 223 with 25 grains of h335 and 55 fmj bullets turned out on my dillon.Barrel length is 10.5 14.5 and 16" . Thanks again. Ed |
