I have a specwar 762 in jail and have a 8.5 inch barrel on order . What is the longest length handgaurd I can get away with ? Would an 8" leave enough room or should I go with a 7" ?

Sorry this isn't exactly what you are looking for, but hopefully it's close enough for you to decide: this is a 8.2 inch barrel with a 7.2 inch Troy VTAC Rail:   |

That is helpful , I want it as close as I can get it and still be able to operate the locking ring . So you have a total inch difference between barrel and rail length . Looks like there may be a half inch between the front of the rail and the collar .
if so the 8" rail may just fit on an 8.5" barrel . |

I just took a measurement - 0.468" from the end of the rail to the back of the teeth. I have a small shim between the barrel and brake for timing. |
