Is it honestly worth the coin?
I'm building a mk18 that will be ran suppressed most of the time. I've used the RTV trick on my 14.5 and 16 builds and wondering if the gb is a vast improvement. I'm know some here have used both. |
| I've used both. RTV first, was actually quite pleased with how it turned out, I really didn't want some BS DIY looking shit on my nice rifle but it looked like it was ment to be there with black RTV. For a different rifle I bought a gas buster. It was better than a normal charging handle but had no where near the seal that the RTV had. In fact, I was pretty disappointed because I would still get a nasty whiff of gas up my nose or in my eye (yes, with glasses). Like I said, I'm not the kinda guy to go taping things up, freehand dremel, or stiple things, not because I can't but because I like things looking real clean & sharp. But I would never pay another dime for any charging handle with a ledge to block gas after how nice the black RTV worked & LOOKED. |
I use one of these on my 8.5 300blk and get zero gas to the face.
I got mine here. |

I'm running the PRI gas buster on my MK18. Of course, I'm also running The Govnah adjustable gas block.
It shoots perfectly, like it's not suppressed. I never liked the idea of the RTV mod. I just can't bring myself to squeeze that stuff on my rifle. Mind you, I like real wear and tear on my guns. I just don't like the idea of the equivalent of using duct tape in the engine compartment of an M5. I won't argue that it works though. My vote is for the gas buster (and an adjustable block). |

Does anyone know if the BCM or Armageddon Tactical handles interfere with the MBUS Pro rear sight when it is in the down position and attached at the last slot? It looks like they would make contact with it in that configuration.
For now, I'm running a standard handle with a little hole drilled in the side of it and that has alleviated much of the gas issue. On longer strings of semi-steady fire, I still get some gas. |
