After a few mag dumps on my SBR at the range tonight, I noticed my AAC M4-2000 started to have its coating come off. I'm fairly sure this is normal with as much use as this has had, but what are my options for repainting it? Hi temp spray? Cerakote?

I kind of like it...

But high-temp spray paint for cheap. Cerakote for more cash.

At those temps some discoloration is going to be hard to avoid.

New AAC silencers use cerakote gom the factory IIRC. If you are doing mag dumps there isn't really a good coating option that won't eventually burn off. I say just live with it. It's a tool with wear marks.

You need something silica based like Cerakote hi temp or VHT header paint.  I would use the VHT personally, $9 in auto parts stores.  I don't think the factory finished is anodized on your can, since it is a steel body.

Anodizing is typically done on non-ferrous alloys . . . primarily those with aluminum in their composition.

The outer tube of a M4-2000 is stainless and like stated was done with gun-kote several years ago and AAC ended up switching to cerakote.

You can either reapply as necessary with high-temp paint (grill or engine paint) or move up to what c5hardtop suggested with hi-temp cerakote (which is almost impossible to burn off) or paint made specifically for headers (not as good as high-temp cerakote IMO)

Some people throw rifles down the drive-way for such authentic looks, rock it out as is brother ... Or High Temp Cerakote is my vote
