I've got a socom 556 I put it on and shot a few 100 rounds now it won't come off. How do I get it off? Do I just shoot it and take it off when it's hot or is there some other trick?

Unlock the collar and shoot it off.

Happened to me the first time I shot my 556 RC.  I propped it up in a corner standing on the suppressor and used a needle applicator to put CLP around the brake/suppressor mating surface.  Twenty minutes or so later it came right off.
This came up in another thread a day or so ago.  After that first shoot I started to put a bit of this on the mating surface of the brake:

Never had a removal problem again.

Shoot it. Take off when hot. I wouldn't resort to shooting it off just yet.

Go back to the range. Fire 10 rounds and then try to remove it again.

Only shoot it off as a last resort.

It gets easier to remove and install after the first couple range trips.  If still no joy, give Surefire a shout (kudu22 Garin) he will take care of you. IIRC,  I believe they had a couple mounts that some people eye having issues with.

Strap wrench and some muscle.

I told my buddy this would happen and he bought one any ways. Tried heating it up and jostling it by firing and the collar still didn't loosen up. Had to use a strap wrench to get it free.

I've probably had 4-5 customers come back with surefire suppressors stuck on the mount.

Fireclean on the mount and you will never have this issue.

How is the strap wrench to be used? I have never heard of a stuck locking collar, and the suppressor and mount interface are rotation limited.

Take it off while it's still hot after shooting.  These work very well for me.
