Just got my "Operative Takedown" (integrally suppressed 10/22 takedown by Thompson Machine), and
thought I'd share some pics for those interested--

With scope (*fits in the takedown carrying bag)--

Very slick & quiet package-- loudest sound when firing is the action working... to my ear, slightly quieter than
my regular 10/22 with a thread-on can (I also have both a Sparrow and a Spectre II).

Also, not entirely clear on TM's web site, but the barrel is ported; mine will keep CCI Mini-Mags
subsonic with no problem (*they are slightly louder than dedicated subsonics, however).

Another thing I like with this is it doesn't look suppressed; to the uninformed bystander, it just appears
to be a .22LR with a bull barrel of some sort.

Comments welcome...

Good to hear.  I just ordered an Operative S for an SBR.  Looking forward to getting it sometime next year .

All in all, I've become a huge TM fan.

Sexy looking rifle.

Any POI shift removing/installing barrel? i.e. does it keep zero?

I love mine as well. Very slick set up. I have only been plinking with mine but it seems super accurate. I need to put it on paper soon. Bob

Due to a shortage (apparently) of 10/22 takedowns last year, I purchased
one locally (retail) and sent TM the front end for conversion... $850.00
(that does not include the cost of the base gun, or NFA fee).

So, definitely more $$$'s than just purchasing a thread-on suppressor, although based on
my serial # this is a fairly low-volume item.  All that said, I'm still very pleased
with the result... nothing in the NFA world is cheap!

so, since the optics are on the receiver and not the barrel, how is your zero repeatability?

My pops got one of the take down 10/22s and put a 3x9 on it. Haven't seen any zero shift since he got it 2 years ago. He transports and stores it taken down, so every time he goes to the range it gets put together and taken apart. We shoot spent 12 gauge shells at 25-50 yards.

Since the baffle core is removable, can you take the core out, leave it at home and have the gun not be NFA-status? Or does their modification to the barrel convert the barrel itself into the NFA item?

I have similar results.  Very repeatable.

I'm shooting ~1.5" groups at 50 ft, and some of this variation may be my fault.  My take is
that the "takedown" was never meant to be a competition "tack driver" type of gun, rather
a plinker with appropriate accuracy.  That said, the takedown does come with a built-in
"tensioning" system that really takes the play out of the barrel/receiver union when you have
it set correctly... but still no trouble with assembly/disassembly.

Another thing-- after doing some reading around, I installed an aftermarket "bolt buffer" from Kidd--
http://www.kiddinnovativedesign.com/Ruger-10-22-Bolt-Buffer_p_12.html

...there is some debate about these on the Ruger/rimfire forums, but to my ear it definitely quiets
down the action noise on the 10/22.  At about $6, and only taking maybe 5 min to install, I didn't
see a lot of downside to giving it a try.  IMO, a worthwhile addition for any suppressed 10/22.

Given that the serial # is on the outside of the "barrel," and not the baffle stack-- I would assume
the entire front end is considered a suppressor, for legal purposes.

If this would affect something you want to do (e.g., take the rifle to a state where suppressors
aren't legal), probably best to get an ATF ruling first...

No, was wanting to get it cerakoted black. Don't like the two-tone look. But if the barrel is the NFA item as you said- would have to find NFA dealer to do cerakoting.

When I spoke to Brooks, I believe he said they could do it for $40 on the "S" version, so maybe slightly

more for the standard length?

I seem to recall a thread recently about wanting to cerakote a can. IIRC, a lot of inexpensive options
