Thread protector that damages barrel (you can see in the pic where is rough now) and takes off the finish ?





Keep in mind I just received this barrel from brownells.

That doesn't look like a knurled thread protector could have been torqued hard enough to do that damage.

It seems like the barrel is brittle as shit there just from the protector. Whats going to happen when I attach the can?

ETA: that wear is all around the rim not just in that location.

Dude, if the thread protector is doing that then it's because your barrel is a piece of shit. With that said, that scuffing isn't going to throw your can off.

Thread protector should only be applied finger-tight at most, should not be applied hard enough to abrade metal.

Is this a common issue? Im going to call brownells tomorrow and see if they can send me one without a defect this time.

Does it interfere with mounting? If not, shoot it! Enjoy it. Unless it interferes with lining up your suppressor, flash hider, brake, just shoot it.
