| Storm Lake ($180) or AAC ($215) |
|
The AAC barrel is made by Storm Lake, but it has a nitride coating, which is nice and a thread protector.
As for "semi drop-in", all non-factory barrels will be semi drop in (heck, sometimes even factory barrels!) Due to variances in the slide, frame and barrel, they can't guarantee 100% fit in 100% of the guns. Most of the barrels I've had to work on just needed the hood length shortened a little until it would go into battery. Took 5 seconds with a stone or light file. Of all the barrels I've put into various glocks (26, 19, 21, 22, 35 and three 17 barrels), I've never had to fit any of them. That goes for my factory barrels, Lone Wolf barrels and Storm Lake barrels. |

I have two G19 Storm Lake barrels. No issues except one was a little tight with some remanufactured ammo. Both have been GTG with new ammo. That is one of the listed differences in the AAC spec'ed storm lake barrels. They are said to have a slightly looser chamber (more like a factory glock chamber than a "match" chamber) Of the Storm Lake barrels that I have, they haven't been problematic for me. My Sig 1911 barrels have tighter chambers that I did have issues with my hand loads until I adjusted my setup. |

Lone Wolf..black one without the funky wolf logo This. Just place a backorder on their site. That's how I bought all four of mine. (They show the SS version due by the end of the month of you want one. The black oxide version just has a generic Backordered note). Or the Gem-Tech version. |

I would also like to use reloaded subs. |

I would assume that's why AAC requested that Storm Lake produce the barrels for them the way that they did, just to make life a little easier for silencer customers. However, I have not had any issues with my Storm Lake barrels (one in 9mm, two in 45, one was a 10mm conversion barrel for a Glock 21) both firing suppressed and non-suppressed. However, a looser chamber will aid in less than optimal ammo, but may not yield the same accuracy. Personally, I wouldn't sweat it either way and would probably buy whatever is in stock. |

Well while I was waiting the storm lake sold out at midway. I ended up buying the AAC with my brownells discount and it ended up being the same price. |

Lone wolf are out of stock everywhere. My only issue with the storm lake is that its "semi" drop in and might need gun smithing. I had a hard time finding them too with the big retailers....made a list of all the small time Class 3 dealers around the country ..sent them a mass email stating what I needed..worked for my G21 and my G19 try this |

I got a G17 and G19 threaded barrels from gemtech...I believe they get them from lone wolf... They were on sale, too! I have one of the GT barrels plus my LWD barrels. They do look identical, and I heard sometime before that they resold LWD barrels after inspecting them closely. 40% off when I grabbed mine, so actually less than LWD and it came with the TP. |

Gemtech reps on arfcom, have said their aftermarket GLOCK barrels are LWD barrels which they check the threads on before selling. I believe they are also blind marked in addition to being blackened. Gemtech also sells GLOCK factory threaded barrels. Got no opinion on the OP's question, I do not want to give FG my business if I can avoid it. KKM makes a fantastic barrel (arguably a better barrel) and they are almost always in stock. Just call KKM to order. |

That is my thought as well. I am glad I grabbed a G17 and G19 barrel from Gemtech when they had them a few months ago. Someday I will get a suppressor and be able to actually use them I hope. Quoted:

Factory Glock and metric threads FTW... That is my thought as well. I am glad I grabbed a G17 and G19 barrel from Gemtech when they had them a few months ago. Someday I will get a suppressor and be able to actually use them I hope. I don't even have a G17 yet, but regret not picking up a G17 barrel at the time. I'll find one when the time comes... |
