So after 10 months, the stamp for my 7.62-SDN-6 suppressor finally came!! I was supposed to go shooting this past weekend, but did not have time.

I have a question for you guys. Do you keep the suppressor on your rifle while stored in the safe or do you take it off? Any cons to leaving it on? Eg- stripping, etc..

Thanks!

I take mine off to keep them for getting banged around.

Do not leave it on right after shooting or rust can form. After BBL/Can has cooled and is clean it is OK to leave it on.

The can on my dedicated HD rifle stays on all the time, except for cooling/cleaning -- but it is in the bedroom wall-safe, and only shares that with one other long gun (my wife's HD 870) so "banging around" is minimal.

All of my other cans stay detached and in the largest/heaviest of my safes unless they are being used, regardless of where their hosts are, for the very concerns you mention.

Only have one can, its a thread on attached to a MK18 upper. Dont see a reason why you need to take it of other than cleaning the rifle (not the suppressor) but i use a bore snake so i dont have to worry about patches getting caught in there.

forgive my ignorance, but what does the can being mounted have to do with likelihood of rust formation?

Me too ! Got it about two weeks ago, four months though. eFile. Was going to go with 300 BLK OUT, but the stamp for the SBR was not approved so it will ride on my 18" Noveske upper 5.56 for now. What caliber are you going to shoot with it ?

Water condenses in a silencer from shooting and if left on your gun can rust the barrel. If you get the can good and hot you lessen this but water vapor is still in the can and will condense once it cools down.
I always remove the can after shooting and let it dry out before putting it back on my guns.

As the can cools the dew point is crossed and moisture forms. This can cause rust on the untreated surfaces such as threads. I learned this the hard way.

When I shoot my 9mm aug with the suppressor, the bolt gets wet. It looks like it is sweating. I don't shoot the suppressor wet.

Cool! I'm going to go the eFile route next time. For now, 5.56.
