I took this can to the range, mounted it on a S&W MP .40 and proceeded to pop off FED HP 180g .40 HSTJHP, while I cannot attest to it being "OSHA hearing safe" 4 mags of 15 did not cause me any pain or ringing in the ears. I tried out some Remington 124 Sabre +P 9mm on the same pistol platform and that was kinda loud.. I didnt shoot more than 5 rounds without hearing protection ( and the only mag I had with me was a PRO-MAG, piece of shit came apart and dumped the rest of the rounds, second one this happens to.. PROMAG SUCKS!).
After the PROMAG debacle i proceeded to shoot some CCI 22lr 40g though a Savage TLR bolt action, that was quiet.. more quiet than any pnuematic/spring pellet rifle I have ever had.... so to sum it up.. with .40 cal it was good, with CCI 40g 22lr 40g it was great and it was marginal with Remington 124 Sabre +P 9mm. Nice versatile suppressor, happy with the purchase. |

Glad you like the 45HD. I tried my new Octane out a couple weeks ago on a Glock 19 and 1911. Both rang me ears. It was sure quieter than without, but I won't be shooting without some light hearing protection. I wasnt too impressed with the 9mm performance either to tell the truth.. but all i was able to fire was some 124g +p.. so it was not the best thing to test out a suppressor with. I think it will do better with some 147g Federal HST JHP. With .45 ammo? what weight? I have heard this from a few glock owners, I was considering a Glock 37, i may stay away if they dont play well with the Octane .45 |

Thanks, i was surprised how well it worked on my .22lr bolt action. Quoted:

I have one pending and cannot wait! Thanks, i was surprised how well it worked on my .22lr bolt action. How heavy is it out at the end? I was thinking of using mine on a rifle as well or get another 22 lr suppressor. |

Rimfire cans are comparatively inexpensive and probably offer the greatest return/enjoyment per dollar of anything NFA. JMHO, and I am admittedly biased -- my third rimfire can is pending now. |

I run my Multimount on my 10/22 instead of my sparrow, think the performance is better with the MM and the MM weights the same as the sparrow. |

I can't feel the difference in weight from holding them. |

I do notice a big difference between my Octane and my Spectre when I mount them on the same host. Still, the Octane is as close as I have to a "one size fits all" suppressor. Great choice OP |

Great choice OP Yep, after reading up on some specs I see you are correct. They felt the same in my hand.. but I never mounted them on anything. So far i am happy with the .45 sctane HD... if it quiets down 147 HST JHP 9mm ammo as well as it does .40 and .22lr, I will be very happy. |
| Took my Octane outdoors this weekend to shoot finally. On my FNP with standard 230gr it is very hearing safe. Also tried it out on my 77/44 with subsonic and full power 44 mag loads. It's unbelievably quiet with the subs and even the full power loads were hearing safe with a supersonic crack. This is a great can. |

Great choice OP I'd agree. If you can buy only one, the octane 45 would be it. 300 bucks more than a dedicated 22lr (sparrow). But if you have money for both, get both. Still the octane breaks a part just like the SPECTRE II |

I've had my aluminum suppressor parts in my stainless tumbler before without any issues. |

It will probably take off the anodizing too. |

If you're looking for a cheap, dedicated 9mm can...
http://www.silencershop.com/shop/aac-evolution-9/ They've been discontinued, but SS got a batch form AAC. And they marked them down by 50%. Consider also, that AAC is running a promo that gives you $200 back on the purchase of a can. So, assuming you're thinking of buying some stuff from AAC anyhow, that covers the cost of the stamp. A bit over $300, out the door, isn't bad for a 9mm suppressor. Or, look at it as getting the can for $100, and paying for the stamp. I also have an Octane 45 HD in jail, but ordered this as a backup, and dedicated 9mm can. From the review you just posted, looks like that might have been a good call? BTW, the can also comes with a piston, unlike many that charge an extra $75-$100 for that. |
