| I have a Noveske 8.2" 300blk upper that currently has the AAC 51T FH on it. I have an SDN-6 that goes on it. I was going to put their brake on my SCAR17, but found out that I really can't use it on the 17, so I was considering putting the brake on my 300blk and moving the FH to the SCAR17. Any downsides to putting the brake on the 300blk upper? I doubt I will shoot it without the can ever, but that is a possibility. Will the can be louder using the brake instead of the FH? |

Shooting the brake, on the 300BLK, without the suppressor will simply make it loud. This will only be the case, if you shoot it without the suppressor.
With the suppressor attached, you won't have an increase in noise and it should suppress the exact same as with the FH. A brake will even act as a sacrificial blast baffle and, if you run exclusively suppressed, is usually recommended to just run with the brake. (This is at least what I've been hearing) I started using a flash hider in 2008, with my Surefire FA556-212 on my Daniel Defense 5.56 rifle. In 2010, I migrated over to a brake with it and I've noticed no change in noise levels. Go with what works and what you like man, FH/Brake it all works. |

On my 10.5" 5.56 sbr i went with a brake for the sacrifial benefit. Being that the 300blk uses faster burning powder, is a brake still needed for a sacrificial baffle? On the 300, if you're running supers suppressed on a 8-10" barrel, a brake should benefit you (but not as much as a brake on a 10.5" 5.56 will). If you're running supers through a 12.5+" or you're only running subsonics, a brake is not really giving you very much. |
| Thanks guys. I guess it just comes down to what I have available on hand. The FH is currently on the 300blk and I have a brake that I was going to put on my SCAR17, but since I can't I could just switch them. Or, just sell the brake and buy a FH to put on the 17. |
