I have an opportunity to get a SWR Specwar 7.62. It would be for use on a Scar 17 and various 300 blk ARs - all 16 inches. Any reviews or opinions out there? My google-fu did not yield much.

Yep, that about covers it. |

I went with the Specwar because my first concern was suppression coupled with versatility. I was worried that I'd be disappointed with the suppression of a "compromise" can like a mini. I'll have 5.56, 6.8, 300BLK, 7.62, and the big hunting magnums covered.
Later down the road I can buy a Specwar 556 for a little shorter/lighter package on my 5.56 rifles and be ready to rock with the same mounts. |

I also went with the M2. What about the mounting system did you like over the specwar? Quoted:

You get great sound coverage w the SpecWar. That being said, I got to play w one recently, and ended up going w the YHM M2, as I preferred its mounting system. I also went with the M2. What about the mounting system did you like over the specwar? The M2s. I have one "barrel under the rail" rifle and it would be impossible to do that having to thumb twist the lock unit before unscrewing the can. With the YHM ones, all i have to do is twist on, twist off. Suppressor can go under the handguard no issue.
The only thing i dont like about the YHM are the aesthetics of the mounts. They are fugly! |

I keep going back and forth on the 7.62 specwar and the 5.56 Most of what I will shoot is 5.56 but the 7.62 provides versatility ....at the price of additional cost and weight though. Gotta decide fast before the new rules about trusts kickin I thought about that too but then again how often would I shoot calibers other than 5.56/223? I'm highly invested in 5.56 although I have a 6.5 Creedmoor bolt gun. I don't plan on doing a 300 Blackout upper anytime soon or even own a 308 anything. Specwar 5.56 it was. If this is the only can I will ever own I think I would okay with it. |
