| So I shot about 75rds through my kestrel 5.56 today, when I got home I started tearing it down to clean it, and the forward most baffle is stuck. I have been soaking it in hoppe's gun cleaning solvent for the last three hours, any other ideas? |
| Were you shooting .22LR out of it? If not...just keep shooting the darn thing until you decide it's worth it to send in to HTA. I guess you could try a dowel rod but why risk damaging the tube. I believe HTA will clean the can for you.. 75rnds of 5.56 shouldn't foul anything...did the baffles come out fine before you shot through it some? You don't really need to clean a 5.56 can. |

My thoughts exactly... |

Unless you're shooting .22LR out of it...the pressures and heat involved combined with a copper jacket will keep the can pretty much lead free. There will be some minor carbon buildup but I wouldn't worry too much about it. Just shoot and enjoy! You'll end up doing more damage/wear due to overcleaning than you will just shooting rounds through the thing. Not to mention a dirty can sounds slightly better than a clean one.
