I am new to cans, so forgive my ignorance, but does anyone in the US (or elsewhere) own a soviet PBS-1?  If so what do you think of them?  Are they available for purchase anywhere?  Thanks in advance.

I don't have any personal experience, but I do have it on good authority that  they are not as good as US commercial cans.

Thanks! I was wondering if they were on par after I heard they had a replaceable rubber plug that preceded the baffles. Appreciate the response. I'm pretty sure given the time period this can is next to impossible to find in the states. I just randomly really want one.

I think Red Jacket used to make a clone. The internals weren't the same, but the outside was supposed to look like it.

Edit: It might not have been the PBS-1, maybe the 5?

I have no idea man.  From Janes

"Internally, there are up to 10 baffle plates, preceded by a 20 mm thick rubber plug which has to be pierced by the bullet when fired. The combination of the rubber plug, an expansion chamber and the baffle plates reduces the sound signature considerably and eliminates muzzle flash. The rubber plug requires changing after a few rounds have been fired if the firing sound level is to be kept to a minimum."

Looks kind of like a Maglite.

Might make a good starting point if you are patient/adventurous to roll your own.
