Well my HALO just got approved and I am just waiting on my stamp. I'm sure it will be fine, but I am a little concerned with baffle strikes since it only mounts to the flash suppressor with a flat washer. Does anybody have much experience with these?

Also, it was manufactured in 2012 so it is supposed to be compatible with the Smith Vortex. Are any of you guys running a HALO on a Smith Vortex? Should I look into getting a comp to help prevent wear on the suppressor?

Any input is appreciated. Thank you!

Sbye

Sorry for any grammar errors... I did this on my cell phone at work

There are no issues with baffle strikes. Just make sure you use the included shims and not a crush washer. If your barrel threads are concentric and in-spec, then the flash hider will sit flat against the shoulder for the suppressor to index off of, just like any other QD mount.

I have a Smith Vortex on one of my guns and the Halo works fine with it. The Halo is a very tough suppressor, so I wouldn't be concerned about wear from the muzzle blast unless you're shooting it on a very short barrel (under 10").

Alright, thank you. I think I just needed a little bit of reassurance. I would hate to have something go wrong & have to wait another 6 months.

I didn't use the shims. I had gunsmith time the flash hider on the gun so it set properly and square. I liked the idea better than shims, that way I don't need shims for every gun.

Use an A1 flash hider and it doesn't need to be indexed, just torque it up to the barrel shoulder.  I have a HALO and that's what I did.
