There is nothing wrong conceptually with the piston being tightened against the muzzle. The .578-28 threads used on the .45ACP do this.
The question is whether the MM9 piston has an internal shoulder to stop against the muzzle. If it does not, then there is nothing to really torque against and what you are really doing is crushing the barrel threads. |

Good point. I just posted this in the Gemtech forum to see what Kell or PHD say. ETA I just looked at my 1/2 28 LID and there isnt a shoulder. It would appear that I might have to get some sort of .200 spacer to thread onto the barrel? WTF was CZ thinking? Couldn't tell you, I don't know of any 9mm pistol can with a call out for a .600" long thread shank. I am waiting on an Isis-2 9mm, which will be my first NFA item. While talking to Brooks a week or two ago he mentioned Hickok45 did a video on the Isis-2 9mm. I found the video and the pistol used in the video is the P-07 with the threaded barrel. I then vaguely remembered Sherry mentioning these to us at SHOT, and was sure we ordered some. We did, and still have four in stock. So I put one on an order for me self, I have always wanted a CZ and this is a good excuse. However, looking over the pistol the first thing I noticed was the abnormally long thread shank. I talked to Brooks at TM since then and he said the pistons in their RBM is threaded deeply and should not be an issue. The fixed barrel mount with my Isis-2 has about .060" longer thread then the CZ barrel. If Brooks said it was going to be a problem, or when I check my RBM and I see it is not making it to the shoulder, I will just crown the barrel back to the nominal .400" thread length. |
