Still waiting on the form 3 to come through but filling out what I can on form 4 for my SDN-6, my question is at number 15 " possess the machinegun, short-barreled rifle, short-barreled shotgun, or destructive device described on this application for the following reason(s) " what do you put, on the similar question on the form 1 for my SBR I put gun collection, but what do I put here being this is a suppressor?

Thanks You leave it blank - as you noted it is not required for silencers. |

In North Carolina we have to use language to the effect of "For Scientific or experimental purposes as provided by NC General Statute 14-288.8", if it is a machingun it also has to reference 14-409 and include a machinegun permit from the sheriff of the county where one resides. That is just NC though, absent state law to the contrary, "All lawful purposes" is fine.
